They qualified two taekwondo athletes and one archer in 2012, but this time they didn't even show up at Oceanian qualifications. Money is always a big problem for Pacific nations with athletes quite often paying their own way to these events.
dcro 10,210 Posted April 13, 2016 #12 Share Posted April 13, 2016 Btw, it's already 3 AM, April 14th on Nuku'alofa. So, we'll know the results fairly soon. #banbestmen
heywoodu 15,135 Posted April 13, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 13, 2016 In the internal Dutch selections, Sjef van der Berg is so far on top. Rick van der Ven is in second and Mitch Dielemans third and they have quite a big lead on the other two archers (there's three places available, so the top-3 goes to Rio). They had three competitions in the Netherlands in the past days and there are two World Cups and the European Championships which will count as well. . JoshMartini007 2,536 Posted April 14, 2016 #14 Share Posted April 14, 2016 Results for the Oceania Qualifiers are still unknown. One place above him there by the way was Elder, Fiji's qualifier of this week Also, Tatafu will be Tonga's first ever woman in Olympic archery Edited April 14, 2016 by heywoodu . dcro 10,210 Posted April 14, 2016 #18 Share Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) Tonga is doing a good job, possibly on the road for their biggest team ever. They already have 3 athletes (without swimming and athletics). Their record is 7 (from their first Olympics in 1984). In 2008 and 2012 they had only 3. The only other sport that they can realistically qualify in is rugby sevens. Maybe a tripartite in weightlifting is possible too.

Maybe also a tripartite in boxing, they competed at Asian/Oceanian qualifications. #banbestmen
