Steven Dubois definitively deserves an individual gold medal for his career. I suspect the relay will be an insane battle between :CAN and :NED.

I feel like you might've jinxed it

Well, we're at my basement level expectations for the short track team. My "If everything goes wrong" prediction was 5 medals, 1 gold. My "If everything doesn't go wrong for once" prediction was 7 medals, 3 golds, which is still possible.

I gave up on my "If they actually perform at their potential unlike literally every single other Olympics ever" prediction of 10 medals, 5 golds, long ago.

Homan

Very lucky shot by the Italians, wrong turn and horrible throw and still got 3 points. Luckily a win here doesn't matter

Possible the Olympic pressure just got to him.

I remember 4 years ago, Sarault was expected by many people to come away with multiple medals and she didn't win a single one.

Now look at her 4 years later. I hope Will can have a similar redemption story in 2030.

The way that he’s being treated online has been awful - he’s being absolutely skewered by people saying the nastiest things.

I get that fans are disappointed, but it’s not as if this guy isn’t trying his best. I can only imagine how defeated he must feel right now.

Canada has to win tomorrow against Korea or they are out. So all the below scenarios assume Canada wins, Korea loses.

USA wins: SWE vs CAN

USA loses: SUI vs CAN

But again, the most important thing is that Canada wins. Otherwise, they (best case scenario) tie the US and/or GB for 4th, but lose on the tie-breaker since they lost both those games. Korea can still make it if the US loses, too.

So a bunch of things happened today with our short track team winning medals

- Dubois winning gold in the 500m, is his first individual Olympic gold medal and 5th overall. Not only is he one away from tying Hamelin for most winter Olympic medals by a Canadian man in history with the relay still to go, if he can win silver/gold he'll do better than his performance in Beijing and if he can win gold it'll be the most successful Olympics by a Canadian man in history, surpassing Gagnon and Boucher! Oh, and continuing a 4 day gold medal streak for us.

- Boutin with her medal in the women's relay, has tied Klassen, Hughes, and Hamelin for most decorated Canadian at the Winter Olympics, no chance in the 1500m for her but still... just for fun, she's one away from tying Oleksiak for most by a Canadian female Olympian (DeGrasse is also on 7) and from overtaking Klassen/Hughes to become Canada's most decorated female Olympian.

- Sarault is one medal away from tying Klassen for most medals at a single Olympics, with 4 and the 1500m still to go. She also has the chance to become the first short tracker in history to win a medal in every single event.
