Milano Cortina 2026 - General Discussion

Recommended Posts

Olympic day!  Nothing much for us except for M Downhill training.  Other nations have their XD Curling RR.  But enjoy whatever you get to watch!  :)  :USA

Today, we've got two curling matches with Team Cory/Korey (:NOR then :SUI), then Women's ice hockey vs :CZE later this morning. Go Team USA! :USA

I am fast concluding that on Peacock, if an event is shown live on NBC or USA, Peacock is not giving access to the World feed.  This is different than my recollection from 22 and 24, where you could have access to either.

It looks to be similar on CBC Gem -  They have Canadian announcers, but no commercials, on the SB Big Air.

I do remember that in 2024, I had to wait until after the Olympics to get certain things on world feed on the Olympics official site, as only the USA broadcast was up.  (Much prefer the world feed...)

A great day for :USA !  We won both curling matches and our W hockey match.  Oliver Martin is into the finals for Big Air Snowboard.

Tomorrow is the best day...OC!

But also...

Figure Skating - We get the first three rounds of the team event (Dance, Pairs, and Women's)

Curling - Games vs. :CAN and :CZE (The Canada looks to be our toughest, considering how they manhandled :ITA today)

I mean, can't complain about our progress so far...

On top of the leaderboard in figure skating, undefeated in curling so far, won our hockey game, Vonn made it down and had other good showings by Johnson and Wiles...let's go!

One small complaint I have is I thought we had a poor showing in the snowboard big air qualifying. Wish we had one more American in the final.

Other than that, phenomenal start to the Olympics.

Writing this as I'm watching the OC, having taped it while at work.

All right...buckle up for the first big day!  (Spoiled since it's a weekend...will be a rude back to work on Monday when I can't watch most of the day..)

Here's my to-watch schedule: (all times EST)

05:30 - M Downhill

07:00 - W Skiathlon

08:35 - XD Curling vs. :GBR - biggest match so far!

Check in with W 3000m (though no :USA athletes - Edit: Looks like Greta Myers made it in as first reserve ..someone withdrew I think) at 10:00 and W Hockey vs. :FIN at 10:40.

Also check in with M Luge and W Ski Jumping

13:05 - XD Curling vs. :KOR (should be easy, hopefully)

Also flip between 13:30 - M Big Air SBD, 13:45 Team Figure Skating (Men's - Ilia), and final Ski jumping at 13:57

16:05 - Team Figure Skating - Free Dance (Start list TBD)

I thought NBC broadcast of the DH was first rate.  Also, I was relieved to see that once the NBC broadcast ended, you can go to Peacock and watch the OBS feed to see the conclusion and the medal ceremony.

And if I can be America-centric for a quick sec...I do appreciate that the NBC broadcast has MPH so I don't have to quick convert in my head. :p  (At least, I think it's the NBC broadcast that does this...I'll keep my eye out.)
