Boxing WB World Championships 2025

Recommended Posts

I still hope to return back the old scoring process ..something like scoring in Athens 2004 Olympics ..at least for one like me who doesn't know the full rules I can link the point counted with the action happened in front of me. But currently the door is open for corruption and match fixing. I can't believe how a professional judge give full credit to Red player while another one give the full bouts to the Blue one!!

US still with one athlete hanging in there, and she made it to the Gold medal bout.  Yoseline Perez :USA will take on Huang Hsiao-Wen :TPE in the W 54kg bout tomorrow.  She won the Youth Worlds in 2022, but this will be her first Senior Worlds medal (and the only one for :USA in this championship).

Perez with the silver.  4-1  Go :USA, and congrats to :TPE for the win!

Quite right, he had already been warned verbally.

Lenzi won the first round 4-1, but then something went wrong, plus those two warnings threw him off balance. I understand he's physically inferior to his opponents, but here, for example, several Polish women can win medals even though they're much shorter than their opponents. Overall, I feel like our amateur boxing isn't developing: for several years, there was only one Abbes and a few average boxers who had no idea how to fight or pull off any surprises. Now Abbes is gone, and our men's team is essentially nonexistent.

The women's boxing is a bit better, but for the past four or five years, there hasn't been anyone on Irma Testa's level. Occasionally, someone wins a medal, like Charaabi here, but there's still no consistency in their results (even here, Charaabi won a quarter-final against the favorite from Turkey and couldn't even reach the final, even with a good bracket). I simply don't see any idea here to join the top team in a larger group than 1-2 people, as in the previous cycle.

I also have the impression that the judges don't like style our fights: some fights are even close, but we usually lose 0-5 or 1-4, e.g. yesterday Charaabi against an opponent from the USA. The general conclusion is that without the return of Abbes and Testa, we can't expect any medals in 2028. Someone like Lenzi might make the quarter-finals at best, but later he'll be faced with someone taller and stronger than him, like here, and he will be without any chance.

What are the categories in boxing for LA 28?

Jaismine already fought in Paris 2024 in this category, but lost in the first round to Nesthy Petecio, so someone has been betting on her for two years. She had an unlucky draw then, as Petecio is a strong competitor, but the Indian seems to be in better shape now, as she confidently defeated Szeremeta from Poland, the silver medalist from Paris, in the final.

Look at the medal standings: Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are completely dominant and I'd like to ask why this is happening? Are they really that strong, or do they have good contacts with the jury, etc.? Because before 2020, these two countries never dominated so clearly: yes, they were strong, but not to this extent. Secondly, they don't dominate in professional boxing either, so it's a strange situation...

From my perspective, we are dealing with one of two things here:

- or Uzb/Kaz have revolutionized Olympic boxing over the last 3-4 years and that`s a reason of their dominance,
- or we are dealing with the judges looking favorably upon these two nations.

I'm not competent enough in boxing to judge which option is closer to the truth. However, something has definitely happened in this sport since 2021, and it's something strange for me.
