something really interesting is happening now, our ( :ISR ) women epee team did not manage to get to the competiton (as there are no flights from the here) but we have a team in the team event, how you may ask ?

the foil team is competing in epee ( my guess is for the world ranking)

Yes it’s one of 3 known by now, weird stories on things that happened due to the war with Iran, the first one is the men epee team sailing on a mini boat to Cyprus because there were no Flights available so they took a ride with someone who was already scheduled to sail over there and thus after 20+ hours of travel they made it on time for the team’s event( they were tired from the travel and couldn’t be at their best unfortunately) the 2nd one is from today in the men’s foil we had 2 fencers that made it to Italy before this war, and for groups you need at least 3 fencers, the other 2 couldn’t get to Italy due to the risk of travelling( and no mini boats available I guess) so our coach who was a fencers decided to fill in the gap and he is the 3rd fencer(His name is Maor Hatuel) and the 3rd story is of course the one mentioned above, btw the girls won against GB in the 9-16 phase which is nice for them

Very weak championships for us. Today, a defeat in the semi-finals in women's epee. In practically every weapon, we are in poor shape: the women's foil defended itself miraculously against average France. Today, the Olympic gold team in epee (3/4 fencers of that team) was crushed in the semi-finals by Ukraine in 1/2. I don't know what to think about it - I understand the post-Olympic year, but if you field the best team, then to win. It would be different if the youth competed here... We field the best and most experienced competitors in foil and epee, who are out of shape. It would have been better to field a few younger people so that they could learn. What is the point of 37-year-old Errggo or 35-year-old Fiamingo to compete only to lose in a compromising way in the first rounds individually and then win something in the team at the last moment?

After great comebacks, Italian foil in the final and women's épée with bronze. We will finish with 12 medals - the only question is whether there will be 2 or 3 gold. It will not change the place in the medal table - 2nd. A lot of medals but poor quality, the form of our fencers is also average. If it will be better at the World Championships, then there will be no problem. France is more complete than us today - I mean especially women's sabre, where they dominate and we sometimes win some bronze. A lot of work ahead of us if we want to get back to the top.

Our team epee from this generation miss only a World Championship gold to win the grand slam (Olympic gold, World Championship gold, European Championship gold). At the World Championships we recently had 2 silvers and 1 bronze. Let's hope it finally win this year. The last time we won a World Championship gold in women's team epee in 2009, but none of the current fencers remember that time.

That team there are: Quondamcarlo, Cascioli, del Carretto and Moellhausen. This last name competed to Brazil for many years (since 2012 I think?).

And there is gold for team Ukraine in the women's epee

Didn't see that from a mile away, but after that tough match against Hungary it motivated us so much that we destroyed Italy and Switzerland in semis and final. And also this championship we proved that we not just Kharlan, we are much more, we were in three finals, and in how many finals was Russians, who claimed that they are powerhouse? Exactly, one

But this is Russia A, or not? Their best people train somewhere and will return, for example, in women's sabre?

They have their A-squad in almost everything, except women's sabre, but I'm not sure if they will continue or not, so they still not as good as they were and ban kind of killed their fencing a bit

Those old big names are gone? So either they're training somewhere or their careers are over? I wonder what happened to them? They're still a force in judo, wrestling etc.

They are missing Timur Safin from the 2021 squad, the rest is correct.
