Looked into it a while back & qualification standards for all but the most popular events are basically all volunteers taken.

Sure, but as I said a while back this was always a big event for the old Communist countries.   At least part of the appeal for them was that they were very often the hosts & nobody was defecting from :CUB to :GDR

We used to be the same, certainly for the Winter Games only the Curlers were ever interested.  Also there were a couple of recognised Sports Universities which would send competitors.

 

But now there is a much better organised British University Sports scene & they seem to be actively pushing people into it, holding qualifying comps etc.

I’ll be completely clueless as to what I’ll be watching, but I guess I’ll figure it out :d

Not in the Olympics, and at most once a year but I like it (mainly for the flips though)

    • Paschke is completely out of form, so if he were to withdraw on his own, they could make a change for medical reasons? For now, Geiger should be jumping in duets with Hoffman, as Raimund is weaker now.
    • Second time watching alpine skiing this season  surprised with how little I’ve watched this season
    • Lukáš Cingel replaces Beijing 2022 captain Marek Hrivík for  who is out with injury
    • One better look out if Germany didn't test some 'magical potatoe sack suit' with this Geiger performance in Willingen
