:JPN beat :KOR 7-6 for mixed doubles curling gold.

Didn’t need to throw their last rock.

Great curling all around in that match. :JPN finishes the Games undefeated.

In 2017, even here on the forum, I kept track of a medal table without counting the ‘big four’ of Asian winter sports (China, Korea, Kazakhstan and Japan).

This is the medal table after the first day and 17 events

  1. :THA 05 00 02 [07]
  2. :TPE 04 01 03 [08]
  3. :MGL 01 02 02 [05]
  4. :PHI 01 01 01 [03]
  5. :UZB 01 00 00 [01]
  6. :MAS 01 00 00 [01]
  7. :UAE 01 00 00 [01]
  8. :HKG 00 04 03 [07]
  9. :IND 00 04 01 [05]
  10. :SGP 00 02 00 [02]

:WHT Unassigned medals: 04 05 05 [14]

:CHN going 1,2,3,4 in the women's cross country sprint was statement. Their program has come a long way.

Also, great sprint finish for the silver and bronze in the men's final :yes

Medal for :TPE !!! Their first ever AWG medal

With Chen's bronze, :TPE becomes the 11th NOC to win a medal at the Asian Winter Games.

:KGZ:TPE now have one bronze medal each at the AWG (all-time).

Edit: Corrected with notes from @MHSN

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
