Only if they will be fully fit and the best at that time ;)

Of course, of course.

Well, if I’m being fully honest they could be hobbling one one leg and I’d still want to see them on the roster but… :p

Italia just too strong today. Romano and Bottolo were phenomenal, couldn't find a way to neutralize them for practically the whole match. Like a mentioned yesterday, our team is already a winner, nothing changes with today's result.

Also Aleks Nikolov deserved to be the MVP of these Championships, but we all know the procedure..

Romano was in great shape in the most important matches. He is so talented.  Congrats Italy.

Strange championships, bunch of weak teams, bunch of surprises.

This format should be changed, so many competitors are big no-no.

Huge congrats to Italy and Bulgaria, they were on the other level.

Czechia was also great, well done.

Romano at the age of 24 in 2021, was playing in Serie A2 (the current Polish first division) and was never a top junior promese, although he played for various Italian youth NT, but nothing thought, that he would make such progress in the future. Unexpectedly, de Giorgi called him up to the senior NT in 2021 for the European Championships, just after the OG in Tokio. He was a reserve under Giulio Pinali there, but he changed the results of Italy's final match against Slovenia in the 4 and 5 sets (Italy finally won 3-2). I only have doubts about him trip to Russia to Novy Urengoy: Is this the right decision? - a weak club in a weak league with no European competition. It's a strange decision for me – something similar to Elena Pietrini's transfer to Kazan two years ago.

To go somewhere in Siberia during the war there, they would have to pay him 2 or 3 times more than in ITA?, to even consider going there... That's what I think... Orro received, I think, $2.5 million for one season playing in Fenerbahce, but Istanbul is a nicer place to live than Novy Urengoy and the Turkish women's league is much stronger than the Russian one. A very strange decision, but it also shows that if we don't start paying more at home, there will be a problem for us. It`s a big boom on volleyball in ITA right now, so why companies/sponsors shouldn't seriously invest in it, if they don't want to invest in, for example, cycling teams in WT or football teams?

hey, it's him, not me!

if he decided to go there, he knows why he did it

personally, I wouldn't go there even for all the gold in the world, but it's me...have to accept people's decisions, especially if they don't involve you, personally :dunno:

about investments, I already told you...Italy is a dead Country/market...there's no real return on this kind of investments

sport here is good only for some low profile money laundering

if you really have a lot of money, better hide it in an off-shore account

In the 1990s, things were different, although it was always private capital in our sport. Currently in volleyball in the most of leading countries is dominated by state capital: Poland, Turkey and Russia. Or we adapt and change something, or our league will continue to weaken and weaken... Certainly, what we have now won't be enough for much longer.

If anyone wants to watch live the homecoming of our team. It is expected up to 20k people on the square. They crossed Sofia in an open bus and will arrive in the center any moment.

It was similar to 2006 event or not? In 2006 it was a early December, I think.

    • Kudos to you bud, I don't think anyone was happy with the performance by Canada all tournament, but we all stayed on until the end. Take as much time as you need.
    • As new sports I would add cyclocross with the condition it needs to be contested on snow. I would add ice climbing in speed and lead events. I would add freeride ski and snowboard. For new events I would add team sprint events in speed skating, women's Nordic combined, mixed team ski cross, mixed team parallel giant slalom, women's team ski jumping and add longer distance ski mountaineering events.    If there was room on the schedule I would also expand curling to 12 teams in each event.   In total I would add around 20 events for a total of 136 events. Cyclocross-3 Ice climbing-4 Freeride-4 Speed skating-2 Ski jumping-1 Nordic combined-2 Mixed team ski cross-1 Mixed team parallel giant slalom-1 Ski mountaineering-2
    • Hey everyone , now that the Olympics are over just wanted to make an announcement that I'll be taking a break from posting on Totallympics for the most part, and watching sports. Mentally these games have broke me in so many ways, and I need time to reset. Not sure for how long, at least a week, but I'll be back for the Paralympics.   I thought taking time to reflect over the past week and a half, it would make Grondin's silver feel better, it didn't at all. I still think about it all the time and it hurts. Just upset, frustrated, and disappointed that he was a photo finish away from gold... again, and I'd trade half of our medals for the colour to be changed.    Not to mention Canada only won 21 medals, 5-7-9, which is our lowest total since Salt Lake City 2002 with less events, but whatever I got used to it half a week ago...
    • Otherwise the tournament has been excellent in ice hockey, and overall too. 😊
    • Overtime being 3-on-3 is such a bad rule, especially in a final.
    • NBC had a lovely special after the ceremony...even highlighted some non-USA athletes.  Perhaps a few Americans will know Klaebo's name now!  There was even a segment highlighting the Italian medallists, that this was a record year for them, too.   (Best of Milan Cortina, on Peacock, if you can access it.)
