Speed Skating Discussion | Qualification to Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026 Road to Milano Cortina 2026

If Ghiotto doesn't significantly improve his form by February, he could be left with nothing even in the 10 km, considering the progress of his rivals: Cze, Pol, Fra, and now this young Dutchman. It would be a decade's worth of bullshit to dominate a four-year cycle so completely, only to be left with literally nothing at the home Games. But it was clear that Italy wasn't good at home games, and that this was how it would be – others would win the medals.

Bosker out by less than 0.5. 4 years ago Conijn lost qualification by 0.01 (3000) and 0.10 (5000).

Bosker literally has a 0.001% chance of winning a medal in the 10km and he knows it.

Stefano Donagrandi and Ippolito Sanfratello of all places have an Olympic gold medal hanging at home :d

If you're capable of skating 12:45 at this very, very high air pressure, you are at the very least someone with an outside shot. For those new to the Olympics: it's not like a regular competition, there's insane extra pressure and everything, you simply can not just look at the fastest times of the past 1-2 years and say "well, that's gonna be the result".

This youngster has a chance, but only if his progression continues until February. As of today, he'd be in 4th or 5th place, alongside the Frenchman, based on his World Cup times in December.

Nicola Tumolero (!) has Olympic bronze, and so does Ghiotto. Fabris in 2006 certainly wasn't someone you could expect to win a medal. There's no reason to be so unbelievably negative man :d
