Team GB Daily: Day 8

I don't think that it would make a blind bit of difference to the results, but you have to laugh at the never changing absurdity of Olympic judging.

The Danish judge gave the last Danish rider a score that was 2.5% higher than the score from the next highest judge. :p

Beckett into 2nd but lot of distance to the Aussie.

Hannah moving up to 3rd in the women's dinghy but Dutch lead is imposing so far.

the mixed boat starts with an 8th.

medal chances.

agree that the format for windsurfing is insanity. Emma dominated the field and whatever medal race you run her lead should have been unassailable

Medal guaranteed on the floor! Jarman in 3rd with Whitehouse the only gymnast left to go.

Bronze for Jarman. The BBC thought Whitehouse was winning gold but is only 6th.

Interesting judging in the floor final, Filipinos gymnast definitely overmarked but still a bronze. Wighthouse harshly undermarked

And it’s hard to say why. If they wanted to rig it they could have given him 14.8 which wouldn’t have seen as harsh.

Why I can't stand these subjective score based sports

The 0.2 difficulty deduction was on the 2nd tumble for finishing less than 90 degs to the floor which Luke acknowledged.

The Exec score seemed very punitive though compared to what I saw from the other gymnasts.

    • Today is a day without Italians in the leads positions. I`m worried that they are not trying to revive this our sprint. There is only one Bosa and he is old. Pergher is young but she is also only one. It is a pity. After the Olympics they will probably 100% give up on the entire sprint. Our medal bag in Cortina will depend 90% on Ghiotto, just like it did on Fabris in Turin 2006. If Ghiotto will be in goodshape, he can even win 2 individual golds + a team medal. If not, it will be a flop. Apart from him, only Lollobrigida can compete in the mass start and possibly Giovannini in the men's mass start.
