Excerpt from British Rowing:

In 2022 the GB Beach Sprint Team won five medals at the World Beach Sprint Finals in Wales, two medals at the European Championships in Spain and the Home Nations collectively brought seven medals back from the Commonwealth Regatta. All teams were made up of rowers from a mix of river and coastal backgrounds, the majority of whom had only tried the format for the first time that season. In 2023 our Under 19 Mixed Double won GB’s first World Beach Sprint title and five other boats medaled at the World Beach Sprint Finals.

That looks good.

Peters and Sterritt place 7th in the skiff medal race, which leaves them 7th overall.

Unfortunately Beckett not doing well today in the dinghy, finishing 15th in Race 3 which leaves him 16th overall.

Good start from Heathcote and Grube in the mixed dinghy, 2nd in Race 1. Race 2 underway now.

Morgan Lake will be one of those complaining she gets left at home in the future wont she, despite doing nothing with the many chances she has been given

I mean she came 4th at the Worlds last year, so I wouldn't quantify that as "doing nothing".

A brief glance at her record shows she has represented :GBR 24 times in her career (jnr and snr), and has made the final 19 times. She's only missed it 5 times. That's a pretty fine record.

She's in the unfortunate position of being world class but not medal winning class. It happens.

This season she's been relatively off form, so missing the final wasn't a huge shock. I'd have been pleasantly surprised if she had made it.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
