I’m watching Discovery for almost everything too but always switch the RTÉ for an Irish final to get post race interviews and such.

I switch between RTE and BBC and usually have a stream going in the background too

For important events it’ll depend on the commentary team. I like BBC’s swimming team for example

9th for Finn Lynch in his opening race, not a bad start to the regatta. Lost a couple of spots on the last downwind leg but 9th is a solid opener. Main thing in this huge boat class is to be consistent throughout and that gets rewarded.

The BBC swimming commentary for Wiffen's race was excellent to be fair. They understood the strengths and weaknesses of the top competitors really well, particularly impressive considering they need that level of knowledge for 30+ events, and that massively aided their description of the race compared to Discovery, or the RTE commentary which I have seen since.

Ireland safely through to tomorrow’s team jumping final. Scores reset to zero for the final so mission accomplished today :)

He’s beyond awful and for someone who is supposed to have insider knowledge, he doesn’t have any realistic perception about the other crews around the world and his default is always that Ireland are gonna win and bet your house on it. So frustrating listening to that guff, imagine if that was BBC doing the same for their athletes, we’d be rightly calling out the BS.

I remember at the start of the last Olympics in Tokyo he called it that we'd win 4 gold medals in rowing 😂😂

Taking the Irish public for mugs. I always liked Neville Maxwell’s insights. He was always balanced and never far off the mark with his predictions and gave a realistic opinion of Irish chances.

Things not going well for the sailing boys so far in the medal race. Hopefully they can get going soon or a medal is slipping away :(

Never so happy to see a flag other than the Irish tricolour there. Medal race abandoned so we get a reprieve for now :d

Looked like they had taken a different line to the other boats heading to the second mark, but I couldn't tell if they had made up places or were still struggling at the back. Probably just as well it was abandoned on balance.

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
    • Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says.  (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)
    • If you have time would love to see a sport by sport overview of the changes/new sports
    • Slowly going through the documents.   Looks like canoe slalom qualifiers will be a bit different. More kayak cross quotas which will let nations to essentially qualify two kayakers.
    • How about we choose either Rome or Milano  I hate this timeline we have entered of multiple host cities / countries. The football World Cup became ludicrous, we don't need the Olympics to join them. At least not more than they already are.

    • I'm also reminded as I know Canadians are painfully aware that if figures hadn't been a part of the 1984 Olympics, then Brian Orser would have won gold.  Hamilton could have finished 4th in the free skate that year and still beat Orser who finished 7th in the figures
