Yeah the wrestling is where I've mostly noticed it. Like you, I have everything set up through youtube TV as well. And also have a VPN at the ready if I want commentary more biased towards my team from the BBC. :d

Fuck NBC moment #2.   Showing all bouts at once of fencing.   4 matches at the same time! Instead of a dedicated feed

And the same for badminton!! 3 matches at the same time.

And table tennis and judo!!! Pretty much every sport that have parallel matches in one location they are just showing one feed.  This is ridiculous!!!

I hope everyone in the USA group got to see the two women's foil semi-finals today.   That was some of the most nail biting and compelling Olympic action from a US viewpoint that I've seen in quite a while.

I watched the final, but will have to go back and watch a replay of the semifinals.

I was able to catch both the semifinals and finals today :d

  • 2 weeks later...

So what is our final thoughts?

Let's separate it between our thoughts on nbc/peacock.   And on the actual achievements and disappointments

Wish there was one more USA gold to bring us to one more than China, but overall, a very successful Olympics.

You're right but we are still on top because we got so much more overall medals.   There were so many opportunities like Ellison, Harrison, triathlon.  Any swimming which was kind of a fail.   Or Mcewen that already won a gold !   But never the less.  First place is a first place

  • Latest Posts around Totallympics

    • It looks like the IIHF is sticking with 3-on-3 overtime for all events moving forward.     BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    • Although it was a terrible Olympics for Canada, and my two favourite sports (Hockey and Short Track) really didn't work out for us, there were a couple of fun times.    -Women's Pursuit team winning gold because while it was not unexpected at all, it was still a great triumph against an amazing adversary.    -Dubreuil getting a surprise bronze in speed skating 500m.    -Really all of speed skating, Canada and otherwise.    -I really want to say Dubois getting gold in short track, but the whole thing was a mess.    -The last two ends of the men's curling gold medal game.    -Kingsbury getting gold. But it was more relief than excitement, unfortunately.    -I really like the luge relay. Canada was not involved, unfortunately, but it's always fun to watch.    -Men's freeski big air final was nuts! In all the good ways. That was truly the highest level of competition I've seen in a very long time.    -The dog crossing the finish line in cross country, which should have been the meme of the Olympics (not that...other thing).
    • It was also nice to have actual crowds again. I think the Beijing organizers did the best they could given the COVID regulations that still existed in China at the time, but it sure did dampen the atmosphere *a lot*.
    • I was in premium economy as well, the extra five inches of leg room definitively helped me stay sane.   For BA I was in business class and I just wasn't impressed at all, despite the cabin itself being really good (it was a 787-900 so their newer business class product). The service was just... not good enough for international business class - they actually made me appreciate Air Canada xD . With Condor I could forgive the service not being that good because of how little (relatively) I paid, and the seat was comfortable enough.
    • Yes. This was the best WOG since at least Sochi 2014. I only started paying attention to the Olympics after London 2012, so small sample size. But, this was the best WOG I can remember. European fans and atmosphere make everything better in my opinion.
    • There were lots of good moments , this olympics felt so special (I am talking of WOG). The last time I really enjoyed viewing WOG was in Sochi & this tops it. So many feel good moments, very well attended event with spectators filling up stands & making an atmosphere. So many top performances, but for me the  women team dominating the Biathlon event was really special. All 3 of them were just so good & gave top performance. I love it how the female commentator pronounced  Lou Jeanmonnot  & finally grazie mille  we loved it! Thanks for making me fall in love with winter sports again
    • I'm surprised that some Hungarians here are interested in some Nazis in Kiev, instead of their country's economic decline over the last 15-20 years, falling under Romania's level of GDP, when around 2000 it was the richest country in the all former post-communist region. But I understand that this is Orban's tactic to continue ruling and stealing the country, to distract from truly important matters and focus on trivial matters. Clinton's campaign slogan in the USA many years ago: "The economy, stupid!" I think that the current opposition leader in HUN should probably do the same- just do your thing and let Orban himself with all of this Soros, Nazis, etc, only the Martians are still missing in this madness, but that may come to pass
    • I found Condor really nice. I did upgrade myself, so maybe thats why. I would fly them again
