So many upsets in Lithuanian team. Everyone was hyping our female boxers after winning gold in Worlds and medals in Europeans that we will finally debut in women's boxing, but seems we'll have to wait another 4 years... 1 Lithuanian boxer left  standing with not a lot of chance to get through..

:IRL Walsh "beated" Zakhareev :UKR - clear robbery.

:UKR Khartsyz has ane even bout against Cuban - it was 50/50 decision.

Very bad day for us. Especially with that robbery in favour of Walsh. He did not win that bout at all.

I mean, Irish boxing without help from the judges is nothing and it somehow showed at the pro-level, where their boxers are not strong at all, and Ukraine have buch of the top fighters. So kudos for giving money to the judges, this sport needed to be banned from the Olympics, where the world champion who beat his opponent in the face and take him to the canvas, lost

I do not want to characterize in such way Irish boxing in general.

But personally Walsh... should stay at home during the Olympics, since he lost to Zakhareev.

Considering almost every close 3-2 decision at the last qualification tournament went against Irish fighters, that's a pretty ridiculous statement. And Rio 2016 our fighters were on the end of a lot of robberies too, and there's been plenty more over the years. I didn't see the Walsh Zakhariev fight so I can't comment on that fight specifically, but being upset because your fighter lost a bout which you feel they should have won is no reason to make blanket, inaccurate statements. Boxing judging has always been a source of contention given how subjective it is, personally I feel the scoring system for London 2012 was the best I can remember and I wish they had stuck with that.

    • Greece and Portugal also have winter sports centres - but of course these are not homologated routes for World Cup competitions I have never been to Albania personally, so I don't know the country at all. I have been in southern Croatia, though, and there are mountains there but you definitely can't ski there (I was there in the summer, but it's also impossible in the winter). World cup taking place there only in Zagreb.    In general the case of Colturi and Kostelic is completely different: Colturi has no ties to Albania and Janica Kostelic was Croatian and didn't left their country even though at the beginning of her carrier (and also her brother Ivica) her father had to pay for everything and the federation's support was zero. This only changed later. I imagine that the Kostelic family had offers from other countries (Austria, Switzerland, Italy?) to compete for them, which were much richer (at the beginning of the 21st century Croatia was a very poor country and devastated by war). All the more respect for them because they were true Croatian patriots until the end. I can imagine the Colturi family in a similar situation... Her mother would probably negotiate with half of Alpine Europe for Lara to compete for them Which of course doesn't change the fact that the Italian federation completely gave a shit in this situation. They let such talent go in a situation where they hasn`t a single female athlete on the podium of the World Cup in slalom for a dozen or so years. In the giant slalom it's not much better either, only there the older athletes cloud the picture: Brignone and Bassino. However, behind these two there is absolutely nothing...
