Same here, I'll switch to sports I also don't understand but athletes with the same nationality as me win, so those are good sports :p

From what I remember, in judo, the scoring system changes every Olympics, etc. It's hard to get your bearings and keep up with the changes. In addition, if our guys only losing, watching these embarrassing spectacles is a kind of hara-kiri.

The controversy in judo is nothing compared to boxing. The only problem was what happened in 57 kg where Deguchi won gold by doing nothing in the last two bouts

It’s like her opponents were doing anything either. There was no controversy, just bad judo from Deguchi?

And didn’t Deguchi get a waza-ari in her bout against Cysique in the semifinals?

You can call it how you want it. Given some of the negative comments about judo it's mainly because of the women's 57 kg which was far & away the worst weight class in terms of action so far. Except that Cysique throw vs Funakubo nothing happened. Even with bad judo someone had to win gold and it happened to be Deguchi. Overall this was the worst advert for judo and a reason why some "new" fans of the sport don't understand it and don't want to watch it again.

    • I hope she can do well, but I think she's not going to win any gold, as she's never been comfortable both with the shooting range and the altitude in Anterselva   I fear biathlon is going to be one of the biggest flops for us next year (the other disaster will come from the sliding sports, I'm pretty sure...rather, hopeless)   I think our medal table will heavily depend on the speedskating sports, on the big air events and on alpine snowboard, any other discipline's contribution is going to be marginal
    • Great to see luge being back underway, but annoying that the graphics aren't really working properly yet     They're showing the time gaps at all the splits, as per usual, but then at the finish there is only the actual time, and no time gaps, resulting in all the time having to mentally calculate the difference to see if someone gained or lost time in the last part.

    • Yeah, that is quite a surprise overall. Our women's handball has regressed since the 2010s. Or maybe Spanish women's handball isn't as good as I thought.

    • Watched the mass start on Sunday & it just didn't work.  Runners starting from the fourth or fifth row back (ie everyone in places 20-70) were losing time through no fault of their own - just not enough room on the piste for 70+ starters.  So OK for an experiment, but not for real meaningful competition.
