We are going to win 2 golds in boxing but we won't even have 1 bronze. It's the biggest shame about Abbes in the 92 kg category, because the Uzbek, who he lost to after a questionable result in the 1st round, won gold today and won all the next fights very confidently. If the Italian had made it through the 1st round, he would probably be happy with gold today. And we might miss that 1 gold very much at the very end of the games :(

I have friends in Poland and I know that you no longer have the right-wing government that you used to have. This new one probably won't make a circus out of sports and this fight?

Sure. But after 8 years of their ruling it's sth like two nations in one country. We think the opposite about everything, they try to prove that everyone who respects anything is Tusk German leftwinger with no brain, not a Pole, a traitor. Language of hate all the time. Pole is a cathol who thinks that woman are cunts (if they have their opinion) and everyone different just a bit is a sickbrain trans. And this PiS which was ruling together with Konfederacja now (Szeremeta is their important member)...well...there is a lot of them. And they like...ready to be back all the time mental like. I can't live in my country now as a happy person. I am real right side, liberał, but a traitor brainless cunt for them. So, i love the country, always will, the nation of Poland...we are not a nation now. They treat this semi in unhuman way, i just don't believe what happened to this nation. So much  hate...They have their own media, tv station, always trying all the rest to obey their private rules. Sth similar to Gilead ideas.

Also the war in Ukraine should be over by 2028 an

Brave of you to say, given that it was certain the war would be over "in a few months, then a year, then it couldn't go to two years" etc.

I've said it before, but with America's rich, rich history in boxing, I'd be flabbergasted if they'd drop boxing right before their hosting. No matter what kind of other scandals the IOC has with boxing, it will be a gigantic opportunity for the US to revive interest in this sport and I'm sure there are lots of regional and local parties with interests in this.

I don't listen to political talking heads, if Trump gets elected he'll pull back NATO's support and Ukraine will be forced into peace talks, period. EU is unable to finance this war themselves.

And yeah, people here forget how many medals USA can win in boxing. Plus their main target is China which is doing better in swimming. Nobody in USA cares about these Uzbeks or Kazakhs winning medals in boxing so there will be no pressure to "punish" them.

There really needs to be some definitive tests to see how much of an advantage the two gold medalists had because the moment they completely open the doors for this, women's boxing will be over.

But she competed in Tokyo and at the 2023 World Championships, only then was she in poor form and didn`t win medals. Only here did the Taiwanese and Algerian jump out in such high form. I`m interested in this weight class because of the successes of our Irma Testa and she won gold at the World Championships in 2023. In Tokyo 2021, the gold was won by a Japanese woman who is no longer competing and in the final she defeated Petecio from the Philippines.

    • HELLO, from 2024. How’s the future Totallympics? I still have a few more minutes in 2024, so I’ll post my annual “final post of the year.” It won’t be too long this year, but I couldn’t let the tradition die    For me, this year is best described as a “roller coaster.” I entered the year injured, unemployed and anxious, but left healthy (at least relatively), employed and partying with family and friends.   I’m thankful for how it went because I know there are those much less fortunate than me.   There are too many highlights, with too little time,  for me to cover my favorite moments from the year, but amongst the coolest things in life was working alongside a few other Totallympics members for the second time in my life. It was an extraordinary summer full of sports, emotional highs and fraternity.   You guys have always made me fell welcomed, even at my most annoying points in life, and I remain thankful to have found this community. I wish everyone good health, stability and positive professional developments in 2025. Here’s to another year!!!
    • Happy New Year everyone! Hoping in 2025 most users will back here and we will return to standards before Paris 2024.
    • Happy New Year 2025 Totallympics and Totallympians !   Wish you plenty of joy, health, family well-being, personal and professional successes and May every day of 2025 bring you a new reason to smile   but for now Party Time folks ! Cheers !
    • Club season volleyball, NFL, NHL, NBA, some tennis, Men’s World Junior Hockey Champs, Canadian Curling Mixed Doubles Olympic Trials, and Bobsleigh/Luge/Skeleton/Alpine Skiing WC’s
    • As long as it’s not multiple countries worldwide (unless it’s countries bordering each other…), anywhere in India, Saudi Arabia, and probably even Doha I’m fine with pretty much anywhere.
    • If Coe wins they will definitively try to host the games in Saudi Arabia at some point, but 2036 seems too early (esp with SA also having the World Cup in 2034).
    • Additional Sports at Brisbane 2032   The final sports program for Brisbane 2032 can be reasonably expected in the first half of 2028, as occurred in 2024 when confirmation of the Los Angeles Olympics final sports program was announced.   Boxing While Boxing was “scheduled” from the next two summer Olympics, this sport is currently suspended from both LA2028 and Brisbane 2032 until a new governing body (World Boxing) can formally take over the management of the sport and run the competitions at the Games. At Paris 2024, the IOC itself ran the boxing competition as a one-off only. the previous boxing governing body (IBA) has been kicked out of the IOC family after an extended period of governance breaches. for LA2028, boxing may yet be added as a late includion. for Brisbane, I’m confident with the expected full approval by the IOC of World Boxing to govern the sport, Boxing will be re-instated at the Olympics and in 2032 is planned to take place at Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre.   T20 Cricket Cricket is a hot favourite to continue at Brisbane 2032 following it’s debut at LA2028.   77 countries play T20 Cricket world wide according to the latest ICC World Rankings.     Flag Football This sport is actually becoming very popular in Australia and also world wide.  There are 20 million players around the globe currently playing Flag Football.   So, I think it has a better than even chance of being continued at Brisbane 2032.   Flag Football played in 100 countries, 20 million players world wide   Australia embracing the rise of Flag Football   Lacrosse This is another booming sport internationally.   Australia is ranked 4th in the world in both women’s and men’s Lacrosse. It’s another sport which has a good chance to continue at Brisbane 2032.   Lacrosse was played in the Olympics in 1904 and 1908. It was a also a demonstration sport in 1928, 1932 and 1948.    AFL Nines / Rugby League Nines Both AFL and Rugby League I believe will really struggle to win a spot at Brisbane 2032.   The days of “demonstration sports” is long gone from the Olympics and I can’t honestly see either making it on to the final Brisbane 2032 program.   Netball Fast5 With both women’s and men’s teams, I think that Netball Fast5 (women’s and men’s) has got a fair chance for inclusion in 2032.   Fast5 women’s world series competitions have been played since 2009 with men’s teams included since 2022.   Australian Men’s Team wins Netball Fast5 World Series and does viral dance   Incidentally, 50 countries currently play the regular Netball format with Australia ranked No. 1 in the world.   Baseball / Softball Both have been in and out of the Olympics over the years so much its hard to keep up.  They were recently dropped for Paris 2024 but included at LA2028.   It’s 50/50 if they will continue to Brisbane 2032.   Surfing and Sport Climbing Surfing and Sport Climbing will soon be formally added to Brisbane 2032 sports program with both having earned permanent sport status from LA2028 onwards.   3x3 Basketball 3x3 Basketball is already part of Brisbane’s sports program in 2032 and will be played at the Southbank Piazza.   Karate Following it’s debut at Tokyo 2020, Karate was dropped for the Paris 2024 and LA2028 and not looking good for Brisbane.   Breaking As we know, Breaking was dropped for LA2028 and I can’t see it being included at Brisbane 2032.   Permanent Status at Olympics   Once a sport is played at three consecutive Olympic Games, it becomes a permanent sport at the Olympic Games.   So from LA2028 onwards, the following sports will officially be permanent in the Olympic Games:   3x3 Basketball BMX Freestyle Skateboarding Sport Climbing Surfing
    • For that to happen, the IOC would first have to get agreement from international sporting federations, national olympic committtees and IOC members themselves to relax the current July/August Olympics hosting dates requirement and allow the Games to be held in the cooler months.     Many can be expected to oppose such a dates change as it be very disruptive to existing competitions.   When and if that such an IOC hosting rule change happens, it would certainly open the door from hot cpuntries like middle east nations such as  Saudi Arabia, Qatar or United Arab Emirates (Dubai) to host the Games say in cooler November-December.   We know that a Games in the oppressve July/August heat in the middle east would be impossible and deadly for athletes, officials and spectators.   So there’s a lot of hoops to jump through first before such a dates change can occur.  With Games in these New Norm days being awarded around 10 years or so ahead of the Games, that means there’s actually not a lot of time to get this through before 2026 comes around, which is the 10 year mark before a 2036 Summer Olympics.
