Brilliant swims from Jervis and Robinson, both of whom will most likely represent us in the 1500m. I think I'm also right in saying that Robinson doesn't take a place off another athlete due to him qualifying in the open water, so it's highly likely the selectors will let him race this despite missing out by half a second.

I thought the open water team was separate to the 30 limit. In which cause he does take a place in that 30 if selected.

I don't think he actually does, he's already qualified so he's effectively in the same boat as a pool athlete doubling up. Would be very stupid if he does count as two places.

It would be stupid but you can just see them thinking of that.

Robinson is already qualified in open water so he's already on the team so doesn't count for a pool quota.

I could be wrong, but I think that the swimmers only need to get the BST in a single event to get them on the team but then they can entered into any event where they have the OQT. So that would mean that Robinson's time tonight makes him eligible for the 1500m in Paris despite being outside the BST.

Colbert just looks like such a strong swimmer across all strokes. Down to a 4m 34 flat and a real contender to everyone except Summer in Paris

Just coming into here for a second, she would be no match for Grimes either assuming Grimes is in 4:31-4:32 form. But bronze is doable for Colbert.

She's still got to drop another couple of seconds to match the podium from last year. But she's definitely trending in the right direction.

First major complaint about these champs - I am getting a little bit sick of the whole "you've put yourself in a great position in front of those selectors" chat from the presenter.

Really hope that before the end of the champs, one of the swimmers breaks ranks and responds by saying "well I've done the time they asked for, so they bloody well better select me!" :d

    • Netanyahu is bad but unfortunately Hamas helps him maintain power. Every attack they make is a reinforcement of Netanyahu's rhetoric about the country's security, etc. In the fall of 2023, Netanyahu was already losing support and then suddenly a big Hamas attack on a festival near the Gaza Strip. Coincidence? It wouldn`t surprise me at all if Netanyahu knew about the plan for this attack but did nothing so that he would then have the tools to maintain his power. I also remember Ariel Sharon - he was probably even more radical than Netanyahu but he had a brain hemorrhage and fell into a coma.

    • There are still many people of Jewish origin in Central and Eastern Europe who have nothing to do with the state of Israel. What ties does Zelensky have to the state of Israel? Apart from he waś there as president of Ukraine and speaking in the Knesset? Nothing. In the power circles in Moscow there were/are many people of Jewish origin and what about that? A large part of the power apparatus of the USSR was based on Jews, especially in the years shortly after WWII.   Instead of constantly writing about Jews, would be better to tell me which country Algeria has better diplomatic relations with: Tunisia or Egypt?
