I'm still going to cling to my hope that they give it to Zoe, or is the squad fixed at the 4 named in the road race (so can only be Deignan / Georgi/ Morris)?...

You can't only do the ITT; you have to compete in another event also which means Zoe wouldn't be allowed to do the ITT. Georgi may be given the spot.

It just strikes me as odd naming Morris in both Road and track - thus creating, in theory, a free quota space, without at least considering sticking someone in. I'm assuming the madison team is evans and barker, and possibly barker also in the omnium.

My guess would be Neah rides the omnium but at this point we are guessing. Madison should be Evans and barker though definitely.

Semi interesting foible.

The athletes are now entered in the database, and obviously alternates are also there.

Interestingly, Tarling remains listed for track as well as road - obviously, he's an alternate

But more interesting is that Elinor Barker is listed for both track and road...

Does this mean she rides the time trial? I'm still not clear how all of the quotas can get shuffled and combined, sure it will come out in the wash!

No, she's listed for all three track events and the road race, but not the time trial. I expect that means she is the reserve for the road race if one of them picks up an injury - although the Backstedt sisters were named as reserves by Welsh cycling.

anna Morris is listed for the Road Race, Time Trial and team pursuit - but NOT for madison or omnium

Apart from Evans and Barker, only Jess Roberts is named for anything other than team pursuit - she's named for madison.

At this stage, either Morris or Georgi is doing the time trial, Barker-Evans is the madison team (and a good one), with one of them also dong the omnium - if Barker has to do Road, it'll be Evans, otherwise I think Barker.

Fair enough, he was always more likely to medal on the track anyway, don't know if it is too late to replace him, but if they could I would assume it would be Fred Wright, 2022 commonwealth TT silver medallist.

I really don't get the reasoning for this as this means only 4 riders will be allowed to be used for the Men's endurance Track squad then, right? So Vernon, Wood, Hayter, Bigham (Wood for Madison too) which is confusing as didn't Charlie Tanfield go a 4:05 in the IP at euros this year? Surely he'd be a much better option for P2 on the TP over Wood? I really don't understand the reasoning why Hayter isn't race the ITT unless he's (hopefully not) Injured/ill.

It may be one of the others is ill/off form and they therefore cannot spare Hayter in the heats of the TP.

It does seem bizarre that GB went to the trouble of qualifying two entries for both TTs and then don't bother using the second one in each.

There is a fair bit of that across a few sports this games. Qualifying a spot and then not using it effectively.

    • I know that probably nobody care about it here, but today in Wisła were held national championships. Only one round was held, with second being cancelled by heavy rain.   Kacper Tomasiak was winner with 128.0m, second was Dawid Kubacki with 131.5m and third was Paweł Wąsek with 122.5m, 47 jumpers competed in it.   Among womens winner was Anna Twardosz with 117.0m, second was Pola Bełtowska with 106.0m and third was Nicole Konderla-Juroszek with 88.0m. Only 4, yes four jumpers take parts in it, additionaly Konderla-Juroszek announced break from sport after being bronze medalist.    And still people were mad about Bełtowska results in Olympics. How it can be good when we have, now, just 3 active female jumpers???
    • And that's a wrap! The end of the Olympics always gets me. For a couple of weeks, the whole world is cheering, feeling the same highs and heartbreaks together, and suddenly it’s over. I’m really going to miss that.
    • I think Compagnoni is one of the biggest talents in the history of alpine skiing (in a different universe where she didn't have all those the dramatic injuries, she'd probably be a GOAT candidate), but in terms of career achievements, I believe Brignone is above her at this point.

    • I never thought I'd see the day Italy had a 30-medal and 10-gold edition of the Winter Olympics, so there are probably too many to choose from.   Brignone winning the Super G, because to me that was the story of the Games from a human standpoint.   Lollobrigida winning the 3000 meters, because it was the most jaw-dropping performance for me, as everybody — herself included— was saying she had a very rough preparation for the Olympics.   The 1-2 in the men's skicross, because it was the one race in which I got to taste the excitement of gradually realizing that something unbelievable is about to happen. That's probably why the first moment that comes to mind when I think of that race is not the final, but the quarterfinal in which the Italians eliminated Howden.   If I have to choose just one moment, I'll go with those 3 hours on Sunday February 15th in which I saw Federico Pellegrino realize his dream of a relay medal, then Federica Brignone win the giant slalom, and finally Lisa Vittozzi win the first ever Italian gold in biathlon, with a silver medal in snowboard in the middle.
