Amazing Champion's League final between :ITA Vero Volley Milano 2 - 3 :ITA Imoco Volley Conegliano!! The EurovolleyTV broadcast was available for free in the Netherlands, was a great opportunity to watch some of the highest level volleyball. And with a great result: another major prize for Robin de Kruijf!

Meanwhile on the men's side a convincing 3-0 win for :ITA Trentino Itas.

Finally a victory for Trento after 13 years (time of Juantorena and Kazyiski) and three defeats in the three finals in a row (two in 2021 and 2022). The series of victories of Polish teams was also broken: 3 in a row. In the women's game, Paola Egonu played very poorly today and this is worrying in the context of the national team season.

I'm sad that Jastrzębski Węgiel didn't win the title, it would be so massive achievment for our volleyball as earlier Polish clubs did win this season Challenge Cup (Projekt Warszawa) and CEV Cup (Asseco Resovia). Anyway silver medal is still good :)

And I'm happy for Imoco and Joanna Wołosz

This was the 7th season for De Kruijf and Wolosz at Imoco together I believe! Such a stable core for an elite team. Them and De Gennaro have been there for ages I feel like. Love it when a team sticks together:cheer:

Italy is the only nation among men that is able to interrupt Polish domination from time to time, either in the national team or in the club. For me, Trento deserved this title after so many years of waiting. Moreover, it is a rare example of an Italian team with a great youth academy that is not afraid to rely on young Italians: Michieletto and Giannelli trained there in their youth.

  • 2 weeks later...

Today our guys played first match of this very important for them season, friendly against Germany, they lost 1-3, exactly like it was in last year, I'm hoping that this trend will repeat and now we will win all important, official matches, like it was in 2023 :d

:GRE Greece and :ROU Romania are currently hosting the U18 Women's Europeans.   :ITA Italy are the big favorites once again. They have been winning every junior Euros, men or women, in the past few years :d .

Surprisingly our team is doing very well and we are still undefeated, going over :TUR and :POL in the group so far. We are always doing good at these junior events with the boys, but recently there have been a big improvement with girl teams. Still waiting for this to transfer to the elite level and someday getting us passed the 15-25th place in the World.

Amazing performance and our U18 women's team won the European title!  :hyper: From what i saw, this is the first women's junior title we have ever won in any of these U17-U23 European / World tournaments. Playing :ITA Italia in the 1/2 probably made a difference, as the pressure wasn't as big, as if it was in the final. Getting that dramatic win in the 1/2 let loose the girls and they were overplaying :BEL Belgium in 95% of the match in the final.

Our setter Dimana Ivanova was chosen as MVP of the tournament. Many of the girls showed great promise, but i was especially impressed with one of our best OH Kalina Veneva. Even though this was an U18, she is only 15 years old, but it didn't stop her from being one of the team's leaders. :)

and Today we also lost the men's Sub-22 European title to France (we came back 2-2 after losing the first 2 sets, but we couldn't manage the tie-break and finally lost 3-2)

hopefully, those youth losses will be made up with both the men and women's Olympic Gold Medals :p

It`s worth mentioning that the three best players from this age group are already playing in the senior team: Bovolenta, Luca Porro and Laurenzano. There is no one like that in the French senior squad. This shows that our men's youth system works great: the best juniors join the senior team, and the rest are still able to win medals in youth categories. This is what we lack a bit in the female sectors.

    • I`m a traditionalist and I like alpine skiing competitions in the morning hours, illuminated by the sun In ski jumping this is practically non-existentthis in contrast the early 21st century (It's nice that at least there's Planica at the end of every season). There are also traditional competitions under artificial lights, like in Schladming or Madonna di Campiglio. There's no need to do the same thing everywhere as in ski jumping. Alpine skiing finals are rarely super exciting, because usually everything is clear and the skiers are tired from the long season. Finals were often canceled, so this year it was okay for me. If someone wanted a spectacle, that's what the Olympics Games or the World Cup in Kitzbuchel.

    • Baffling scheduling again. It's like FIS want to drive people away.    It's the Finals, on paper your big conclusion to the season, yet it feels like "let's get this over with". Just compare how the ATP treat their finals with this.   Ok, you want to have the GS & SL on Tuesday/Wednesday. That's fine, i've been advocating for more mid-week starts to begin with. But why, oh why do you have them in the middle of the day, on a work week.  Why aren't you having them in the evening, in prime time, when people are off work. Make it a big special event, which people want to visit and not during the day in front of a 100 fans. It's not that hard to choose a place with some floodlights.     And even this week we don't have Champion League football, so the night is free from big competition. Perfect opportunity to have alpine skiing on TV right now, but noooo.
