Btw, that was the day when I became Olympic lover. It was a hot summer day when my sister and I started to watch this very impressive ceremony.

 

And the rest is history.

I remember this day pretty well, I was literally all excited and all day I was thinking what are these weapons they presented in order to nullify the predicted rain by dissolving the clouds

I can remember some really specific details from that day. I remember that the sister went out before the ceremony ended. After the ceremony I remember being with our family cat and thinking how interesting it is that Bhutan competes only in archery (as the commentators suggested). After that there was a big storm in the evening.

Sadly, I can't remember.

 

But I do remember putting alarm for 5am next morning in order to watch my first ever shooting competition. And how did that end? With totally unexpected bronze for our shooter, winning the very first medal of the Games accross all sports...

My most specific memory of the 2008 Olympics is that I was so incredibly annoyed at having gotten a job like 2 weeks before the Olympics started...working in a warehouse, where during some competitions (I mostly remember Marianne Vos winning gold on the track and the men's hockey team losing against I believe Germany after shoot-outs) I used my earphones to listen to the live radio broadcast on my phone while sneaking to places where nobody would see me  And if someone came close, I quickly ripped out the earphones and put them in my pocket and continued to do the work (which consisted of putting things in the right places, so I did actually have to go to places with nobody around)

I've uncovered the VHS tape of the opening ceremony and will be watching it in half an hour.
