Mediterranean Beach Games 2023

Recommended Posts

Sadly :MAR Agalman disappointed a bit, and didn't reach to qualify into the small finals with the other Marocchine athlete. Not Arab NOC at medals after day 2.

Apparently only one relay for NOC was able to win a medal in triathle mixed event. So silver for Italy and bronze for Egypt @Olympian1010

That’s some prime bullshit right there. I hate when organizers do that.

Just watched the replay this evening, and wow, that was an unexpected triumph :yikes:

By far the best ceremony for a “Beach Games” I’ve seen. It really is a shame this event isn’t making many waves (pun intended). It’s got a great results system, accessible broadcasting, and a remarkable opening ceremony.

I think that the only big problem of this games is the schedule. It's crazy have 1-2 medals event in the frist day (on weekend!) and have +15 events tomorrow.

WTF happened in men's kata? :yikes: Silver olympic medallist and plus time European Champion :ESP Damián Quintero lost in the boot against the 22yo :ESP Romero.

Quintero "relegated" to the bronze medal match.

Marocco defeated France 2-0 in beach soccer and qualify for bronze medal match.

Quite complicate situation in group B, where everyone could qualify to final.

    • We´ll see. anyway, I hope hope so.   It was her first career senior bout, maybe a bit too early, to be thrown in the lion´s den, but if all this will result in a medal in LA 28 I am all in

    • Yeah, we have such a strong crop of Juniors, that we can’t take them all. They all have exciting trajectories but to predict what Junior swimmers will is always difficult. Better to let them all swim together at Juniors than rocketing them all up to seniors and swimming a prelim and going home.
    • Hanlon is the most unlucky, in my opinion. Aside from relay cover, she's the 50m champ and they made a point of including consideration for those events being in LA for the other discretionary picks. Essentially she has the same case for selection as Max Morgan (albeit without the trajectory right now).   Blocksidge's form was way off this week (compared to her previous bests). Obviously being still young you could put that down to relative inexperience. Still, she has World and European Juniors that she could still be selected for this summer. There's an argument that performing well at those might be as beneficial as going to Singapore.   That said, I'm happy that they did take a bunch of discretionary picks. That's not always been the case.
