what happened?

Cornu had no chance after his bad bouldering and his last place in lead helped Mawem a bit (although in the end it didn't make any difference).

only 1 of them will be able to earn a ticket for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, as Janja Garnbret has already taken the first available spot for Slovenia at the last World Championships earlier this year)...

I can’t believe that one (or both) of Gibert or Lettner will miss the Olympics :yikes:. I had Gibert down as a serious contender.

Is there any Tripartite nation on the whole climbing circuit though? Seems to me there will be reallocations.

no, there are not...

reallocations? yeah, almost surely...

and not only the tripartite places, but also the African spot among the women (and maybe the men's too, even if there's a South African climber in the top 70 of the IFSC combined world ranking...but with RSA's participation policy we should start thinking they won't accept any invitation for such a low level athlete)...

I believe @JoshMartini007 said there wasn’t. I also remember something vaguely about a :PAK climber in the men’s side.

Basically there's a rule that to get a tripartite quota in sport climbing the athlete must have competed at the world championships. Since no one did the quotas will most likely be reallocated (or there will be a rule change).

the ruled has been amended...it says they have to participate at the world champs or at the continental champs 2020 (or the world qualification tournament, but as this is an extension of the world champs/world cup in terms of invited climbers I don't count it)...

so, nobody is still out of chances, even if it's unlikely that any new Nation in that group will show up in the next continental champs next year)...

source? Qualification document updated on 22 November still says that they must participate in the WCH.

But how did :NIG Niger get a rower in 2012 then? I remember it came out of nowhere. Their selected athlete virtually had no international experience whatsoever.

    • apparently the Japanese organizers rejected OCA's nice request    now OCA is ordering them to do so in a not-so-nice language https://oca.asia/media/attachments/memberships_subcommittee/5/Decision_-_103rd_OCA_EB_Meeting_5ypY8y4.pdf   the last line is very interesting   I knew this for a while, for example that's why Jujjtsu is included in all of OCA events (despite being the worst sport to watch) but good to see OCA admit this. so with the corrupt OCA you can buy your way in. how much they paid the OCA officials for this ?   OK I know Qatar is financially supporting Padel (and UAE is paying everything for Jujitsu) but who is behind Teqball?  ! I don't think Thailand can do that.
    • Important information on team Aerials.   There is no AIN`s team at the start list of the world cup despite of the fact that belorussians have enough athletes to have a team.   https://medias4.fis-ski.com/pdf/2026/FS/8119/2026FS8119SLF1.pdf
    • By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics. Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).   I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.
