Madison is always a mystery to me. Why did UCI choose it as new Olympic event? Elimination race is easier, faster and funnier... I'm so confused I don't even know if "funnier" is correct in English

Tradition still has a place in sports and the madison is definitely one of track cycling's core events (even though personally I'm not a big fan of it).
