It is quite possible that the European Biathlon Championships scheduled for Estonia in a few weeks will be cancelled.  Otepää is dealing with rain and warm weather.  Here is the main stadium on 31 January.

Tehvandi stadium in Otepää on January 31.

That would make 3 events on the IBU Cup that have been relocated/cancelled.

Yeah, and Martell is having mightily strong winds this week. Apparently today it's not that bad anymore, hopefully it stays like that (although yesterday, in strong winds, a certain Brazilian shot more 0's than any other athlete, even from the top nations :d ).

My favourite Chinese athlete made the race by one tenth of a second :hyper:

Clean prone shooting for our favourite Brazilian biathlete and cross-country skier, standing was a bit....less good.

Bit of an understatement, apparently every single shot was dead center, which is rather rare (especially in competition) and so the coach had no choice but to make a photo he said :yikes: (the magnets can't be put on top of one another, which is why it had to be shown like this)

Raubichi is making a bid to host the European Championships.

US had 2 men qualify for the Super Spring Final.  Good to see Schempp and Guigonnat skiing well.  I thought Guigonnat was really going to play a big part of the French team this season, but he just has not had a great season.

Is a Super Spring a period of time with like really nice and moderate weather, even more so than usual? :p

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • there were rumors about it for quite a while, but as I wrote, it was never confirmed so, it might well be just some haters throwing out some shit on her 🤷
    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
