Well done for Vika, she finally made it into the final and top-3. Nice move before EG-2023, where Us can win Olympic quotas

For the quota in Krakow it may be a bit hard (this WC stage was with a limited number of best-level athletes - majority of them skipped Tacen and are preparing for the EG), but I have absolutely no doubt Us will easily win the quota at the World Champs

As it was written, quotas in EG will be distributed after WCh, so in case if Ukraine will boycott WCh Us might have European quota because of top athletes will do this in WCh

Ah I see. No worries, Us will surely earn the quota in either way

    • Due the cancellation of the Division II A tournament this year, no team will progress from this tournament     The winner will receive gold medal and be declared Division II Group B World Champion but will have to stay in this category also for the next edition
    • I told you that longtime ago
    • Men´s Division II Group A World Championship schedulled in Al-Ain this year has been cancelled   So the ranking will be frozen and no team will be promoted to I B / Relegated this year from I B and promoted from II B / Relegated to II B   https://www.iihf.com/en/news/72580/2026_iihf_wmiia_championship_cancelled   The 2026 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A (WMIIA), originally scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates, has been cancelled following a decision by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).   As a result, promotion and relegation for the WMIIA Championship will be frozen for the 2026 season. Therefore, there will be no relegation from Division I Group B (WMIB) to Division II Group A (WMIIA) and no promotion from Division II Group B to Division II Group A.   The IIHF remains committed to the continued growth and development of ice hockey worldwide and looks forward to hosting this championship in the future.

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
