Finally Mads got it after a damn tight race between the breakaway and the peloton! That's the 2nd Danish rider to get stage wins in all three GT's!

Was a good one, just heartbreak for the breakaway guys, looked like they had it till -800m, when they started playing around.

Will the Germans in the peloton be allowed to go up the Gran Sasso today?

Spoiler

The Gran Sasso, where we find the hotel where Mussolini was held captive in 1943 until the Germans liberated him :p

No worries: their predecessors famously arrived by glider & parachute.

Here we go - 25km of final climb, freezing cold at the top, group of three small team rabbits have 8 minute lead….:cheer:

Looking good so far…15km & seven mins.

Peloton has given up, so there’s a win for the newbies for free!

Maybe a last couple of km burnup for the big boys…

That was exceptionally boring. Fun for the three guys ahead, sure.

Yeah, first week Grand Tour with not-very-strong domestiques, so nobody doing much.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
