We gained promotion to Group I after beating Estonia. Maria Sakkari was sick and could not play, but Despina Papamichail had an upset win 6-2 6-4 over Anett Kontaveit

not dead in the water yet after Cocciaretto lost in relief to Hruncakova (Kuzmova). Giorgi & Trevisan won on Day 1 but the second line-up couldn't get one singles win so it goes to the doubles.

Trevisan & Cocciaretto win 7-5 in the deciding set of the doubles. Slovakia were very close to pull off the upset (probably only because Giorgi didn't play today due to some knee issue).

We played each other in 2019, GB won both singles matches in three sets in Bath (Konta d. Sakkari and Boulter d. Grammatikopoulou). With Konta now retired and with Sakkari becoming a top player since then, I think we would have a better chance than last time. Especially if it's on clay...

The promising talent 16 years old last year EYOF double gold medalist Renáta Jamrichová experienced yesterday her debut in Fed Cup. And managed to beat in 2 sets the 78th WTA ranked Nadia Podoroska.  

 

Not entirely 100% sure, but I suspect this was her first careers match against a Top 100 ranked player. Great debut. Way to Go Renáta !
