Don't know how much of a difference in countries anymore. I believe the Super Bowl has viewers in close to 200 countries (5 years old info says available in 180 countries).

But there are of course plenty of factors  to compare. Just looked at viewer numbers as it's really the easiest one.

I meant a 'decent' number if countries, whatever 'decent' may be. I think for the Super Bowl a huge amount of countries have viewers as well of course, but in most of those countries it's probably only a rather low number of diehards compared to the Champions League final.

That could very well be true. Numbers outside USA is usually estimated at about 50 millions. Canada takes up about 10 % of that. (they have even been at 9,5 millions, but lately it's been about 4,5). I would guess that it's decently high in Mexico as well.

In Denmark it's about 100.000 (slightly higher last year, just below the year before that) which is pretty good in the middle of the night.

Wouldn't be surprised if the 10 largest markets outside USA takes up half the viewers meaning a lot of small portions.

By Vince McMahon. Well if that doesn't sound like something I'm going to ignore hard, I don't know what does.

Not planning on following it, but it actually sounds like they've learned some lessons from earlier failed attempts (like last year's lovely AAF :p )

Only time will tell if it will work out.

Now I'm rather curious which annual sport event(s) is/are that much bigger :p

Like mentioned above, UEFA Champions League final (170 million) draws more viewers annually than Super Bowl (ca. 160 million worldwide). However I've read the Indian Cricket League final draws even 200 million viewers (can't say much about it since I don't watch cricket).

FIFA World Cup final draws over 550 million viewers globally but that's obviously once every four years.

Where do you get the 170 million? Haven't been able to find official numbers other than 2014 saying 180, but several other sites mention numbers in the 3 or 400s. I'm aware that there are many ways of counting, but that's a big difference. Articles without sources are always questionable but it's an extremely inflated number if they say double the amount that actually watched.

Correct, the Liverpool-Tottenham final was a 6-year low for these UCL games, The 2018 final Real Madrid vs Liverpool drew 480 million which makes it a slam dunk in these rankings.

Super Bowl numbers from this year? It's 8:00 am on the West Coast there, it's a 9-to-5 working day in USA so they're still drinking coffee there :coffee:

Btw, I found reports there was 180k SB viewers in Italy and 34k in the Netherlands ( @heywoodu )

    • Yes, she was unlucky, but it could just as easily have happened during some training, like with Gut, etc. Brignone has been essentially injury-free throughout her long career, which is very rare in this sport. It's unfortunate that this happened after her best season ever and just 1 year before the Olympic Games in home, when she just missing of win the Olympic gold medal in her great career. With the gold in Cortina, she would have become a legend of Italian skiing, on par with Tomba. Now she's still the best Italian woman in history, but the miss of Olympic gold will likely haunt her for the rest of her life.
    • It sad to see this season, as I remember, that Fede last year was winning everywhere, when she competed and finished and now we haven't even managed a single podium in the giant slalom, and it'll probably stay that way until the end of the season. Without Fede and Bassino, unfortunately, we're out of good cards in this event. For me Goggia should probably skip the giant slalom at all, becouse she has no chance of a podium and she risks further injuries. If even Goggia finish 8th or 10th? What difference does it make? If she couldn't get a podium finish today with so many DNFs at the top skiers, she probably never do. Della Mea is OK this year, but let's be honest, she's not World Cup podium material. Overall, it's a sad picture, and we have a 0% chance of anything in Cortina unless a miracle happens in Brignone return.   We have two chances for Goggia in DH and SG + maybe a dark horse in Pirovano/Curtoni in SG. That's all. In technical events, we have a 0% chance of medaling, and that's sad. Our federation also lost Colturi in this situation... In any normal country, the head of such a federation should be dismissed for disciplinary reasons and this case should be investigated by the minister, or even the prime minister, but not in Italy...
    • Mikaela Shiffrin  off the podium today (Edit: Oops...I thought this was slalom, not Giant Slalom.).  Nina Astner  entered the 2nd run in 30th place, but had the best second run, jumping up 18 places to 12th.
