In terms of Olympic qualification, the highest ranked eligible European nation will qualify. The following European nations are not eligible to qualify a quota here.

nice start for Germani & Bertuzzi in the women's 49er FX class

 

they flopped at the World Champs earlier this year, now they're expected to make up for their faults and earn the lone OQP available in Vilamoura

 

on the other hand, I don't think we have any chance in the men's 49er

unfortunately, :ITA have 7 points, not "only" 6 ;)
