So, unsurprisingly, Canada's women's team has qualified for the Olympics through Ran Sevens. They breezed through the field (Including a 53-0 win against Mexico in the final), outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 281-7, and only managed to concede a single try (Against Saint Lucia in the SFs) throughout the whole tournament.

Our men gave it a good effort in the final against the United States, but lost 24-14. Unfortunately, this means a trip to the OQT, where we'll have to beat Great Britain and most likely Spain to qualify. Don't see it happening.

Women’s rugby sevens team finished in 4th at the HSBC World Series Dubai, with highlight wins over United States (15-10 pool play), Ireland (14-12 quarterfinal), and a close battle against IMO the #1 team in the world New Zealand (lost 19-21 in the semifinals). Got demolished by France in pool play and the bronze medal final though.

Men’s team an absolute disaster, finished dead last with no wins. Solid showing in our matches against New Zealand (21-26 pool play), and Great Britain though (14-21 9th place semifinals)

Canada’s men’s team upsets New Zealand in pool play at the HSBC Cape Town Rugby Sevens Series!

They follow that up with a dominant win over Samoa (33-7) to move to 2-0 after losing 24-0 to them earlier in the week.

As a reminder, this team finished dead last at the HSBC Dubai Rugby Sevens Series (although they played better than their placement suggested)

The joys of the men's sevens series. One day you can't buy a win and the next you are unstoppable.
