Cuba vs. Brazil was intense! 3-2 and 27-25 in tie-break :bounce:

Another good day for Africa.

Hosts :TUN won 3-2 over :BLR , and some good news for @thepharoah as :EGY defeated :ARG 3-1 and is now surely qualified to the next round!

In group D, shockingly :KOR won 3-1 over :USA

Czech Republic beat Iran 3-0 and qualified to the next round. That's actually pretty surprising, I thought they would win only against Colombia :yikes:I also continue to be impressed by Egypt, hopefully their recent successes in junior competitions mean we will finally have a strong African side in volleyball.

I think this is the weakest generation we have had in the last 10 years. They are all very short players and not even that good technically.

This is a bad year, we also had an average u21.

Not a lot happened today, the only highlight I can think of is Czech victory over Bulgaria (3-0). It's also worth noticing Egypt won against Mexico also 3-0 and therefore won group C. We can also safely say the top 3 of each group are qualified to next round. Pool A is an exception, because we already know all qualifying teams.

POOL A: :CUB  :BRA  :TPE  :BLR

POOL B: :CZE  :IRI  :ITA
POOL C: :EGY  :JPN  :GER
POOL D: :RUS  :USA  :KOR

Sadly, the hosts :TUN are the only team confirmed so far that won't play next round, because they played all of their group stage games and still have less points than :BLR which currently is placed 4th and still has one more match to play.

In Pool B, the last remaining spot will be decided tommorow between :BUL and :COL

In Pool C and D, there's still a small chance for :MEX and :DOM to advance instead of :ARG and :NGR respectively, however both teams would have to win the matches in three sets. :MEX would also have to hope that :JPN can defeat :ARG heavily.

We now know that the 3 remaining qualifiers are :BUL:ARG and :NGR

Final Group Standings:

Pool A) :BRA:CUB:BLR:TPE :TUN
Pool B) :ITA:CZE:IRI:BUL :COL
Pool C) :EGY:JPN:ARG:GER:MEX

Pool D) :RUS:USA:KOR:NGR:DOM

So, :TUN:COL:MEX and :DOM will form one more group and fight for 17th-20th places.

Meanwhile, eightfinals are as follows:
:ITA vs :TPE
:JPN vs :KOR

:CZE vs :BLR
:EGY vs :NGR

:RUSvs :GER

:CUB vs :IRI
:USA vs :ARG

:BRA vs :BUL

Personally, I'm surprised that only 6 of theste 16 teams are European. Also, either :CZE or :BLR and :NGR or :EGY are going to play quarterfinals:yikes:

It seems Czech's mission here was only to beat Iran and ruin Iran's chance of a medal :d they lost to Belarus today while other Group B teams managed to win the eight finals, even Bulgaria beat Brazil.

Russia vs Italy in the final looks very possible now.

Quarterfinals

:ITA vs :JPN

:BLR vs :EGY

:RUS vs :IRI
:ARG vs :BUL

Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
