:GER Susanne Krohn has declared for Poland. :BLR refugee Olga Safronova did too.

Looks like Poland is turning every stone in an attempt to claim the Group C team quota in dressage. It's set to be quite a battle between :HUN :LTU :POL as it stands!

In our press it was said that we have a problem with Safronova, because she need a time for changing country. She probably miss event in Budapest. We are trying to change this, because she is a refugee.

I will be very surprised if we actually win this quota. Other than the fact that we are hosting this event, I get the impression that other countries are more invested in getting this quota than we are. We will lose it because Hungary doesn't give a shit about equestrian.

Lithuania is on the way to take this quota. But after Samorin we will see the level of riders apart Szulc/Breakdance like Jura and Skowrońska or Krohn. Safronova is out of competition in Budapest. We are still waiting for Stremler and her new horse in counted event. I had info she will start before Budapest.

While the competition is on the upwards trajectory, Hungary still stands a good chance. Benedek Pachl and Jazmin Yom Tov are strong team leaders, and there is still enough time left for someone between Aniko Losonczy, Anita Schmidt, Nikolett Szalai or Csaba Szokola to step up.

As I thought Safranova and Krohn it is not a big plus for our team nowadays. For now polish team - 1. Szulc / Breakdance 2. Magdalena Jura / RON(this pair is getting higher results than 2022) 3. Marta Sobierajska/Ultrablue.  Unfortunately Zaneta Skowrońska-Kozubik/Romantic P did not start here (she was on startlist). I am still waiting for Stremler (nice debiut in Ankun in Germany). For me Lithuania is clear favourite. We will see next results.

So no Lithuania sadly. Looks like Sysojeva's ride was not ready to compete so that's that. Often the undoing of small teams.

Also no Stremler for Poland.

So overall it is looking very, very good for Hungary. Especially with Toth and Pachl on the team.

    • Slovakia pulled the goalie out in the Overtime and played 4 vs 3  for more than 2 minutes    We suddeenly pulled out goalie and have control of the puck for like 2 minutes in the first 2 minutes of the overtime but without soring than lost the puck and give up a 2 on 0 breakaway empty net goal for the czechs    Interesting strategy

    • Yeah, there's certainly things to complain about from an athletes' perspective, but snow should really not be much of an issue indeed. Mostly things like the enormous geographical spread and it's consequences like there not being one big opening ceremony and everything being spread around a bunch of small Olympic 'villages'/accomodations - so not really the Olympic feeling and atmosphere for the athletes since they'll mostly just stay around athletes of their own sport as in any regular competition.   We'll be going very near to the Olympic area in a few weeks (Coppa Italia in Falcade), let's see what things look like by then.
    • need to work on the celebrations... or just drop them?   Btw, these jerseys suck and I remember Zambia playing in all white with red numbers. At least they have orange on national flag but still...

    • And of course the British being famous for curmudgeons, there were always plenty of curmudgeons to quote.  Then of course from the opening ceremony and the cycle race on the very first morning it was obviously going to be triumph, so everyone just shut up for a while.
    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory

    • For me, these were very good Olympics, and British sport benefited greatly from them, and is still benefiting. I fear it will be much worse here. Canada also benefited very good on Vancouver 2010 – this is very good see in the medal standings of subsequent Winter Games after 2010 and earlier.
