I should have some photos from around there from when my girlfriend was running around the course sending photos of the biathletes in action while I was watching the live stream (she competed in the cross-country instead of the biathlon there). Don't specifically remember bushes and trees, but I do remember it was this beautiful open snowy plains.

Yeah, it might be my favorite venue outside the major World Cup ones. I’m kind of sad they didn’t get the 2022 Winter Olympics (especially since Kazakh sport is doing well right now)

I still don't know if I'm sad about it or not, it depends entirely on the legendary Medeo speed skating rink. If they put a roof on it I'm happy they didn't get it (and this seems the likely option), if they leave it as it is, I'd be happy if they get it :p

Medeo = epic

Yeah Medeo was a cool venue too. They’d have to put a roof on it because it snows to much. The Almaty ski jumping center is very nice as well.

There's no too much in speed skating :wub:

I know, not fair and everything, but this was epic. Just, epic.

Spoiler

But fine, we're digressing, this is about biathlon :p I'm kind of annoyed at there not being full results from Australia yet, come on.

No penalty lap for Jill there, excellent :d

I loved how polite she was when she got up, no rush to cut off the others.

So a wombat is more durable than a tasmanian devil? :p

Does like a koala travel 1,000 meters his entire life even? :mumble:

As another aside - watch two Koala fight.

And now back to biathlon.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
