Cross-Country Skiing 2019 - 2020 Discussion Thread

Those were terrible conditions, damn. Third placed finisher collapsed after the finish due to the heat and fatigue, it took at least 20 minutes and some help from other athletes and later even the ambulance personnel before she slowly managed to get back on her feet. Luckily she's ok now, but that was a bit of a scare.

Awesome, today I got to present the gold medal to the winner in the women's FIS sprint :yikes::d

@Jesús dominated the men's race in a pretty impressive showing.

@Jesús completely destroyed today's competition, wow. After two of three laps everyone was passing by while looking dead, and he still seemed to have a huge amount of power with every move. Damn, that was impressive.

As for the women's race, it was almost equal between Bruna and Ceci Dominguez in the first lap, but Bruna visibly lost power early in the second lap (the lap started with a long straight with full on headwind, then a short uphill) and finished 20 seconds behind. Fun fact: with 13:41.1 minutes she had exactly the same time as she did when she won in July :d

I'll try when I see him tomorrow :p

I'm sure he'll have time to think about it during the pursuit, considering he's almost finished by the time the first chaser starts :d

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
