Mire good news on streaming coverage - European Athletics has signed up a whole lot more meets over the summer, including many from the French & German domestic calendar. Full list here.

Some are on Facebook :finger: I refuse to sub to spyware - but others are on YT.  Nordic Championships from Copenhagen this weekend.

And of course this is the Gotzis Multi-Events weekend.

Usually this stream is not geo-blocked.

Ah, for some reason it weren't showing on the general Viaplay schedule. Wish that was the case for the Widnes vs Swinton game too.

VP often a bit slapdash at keeping their online schedule maintained. It has now appeared live at 21:00 Saturday, then the FTA repeat on Sunday morning.  Can’t help with the RL though!

Good German meet on FTA tomorrow.  It’s a Pentecost meet, so everyone in the world will see it in their own native language*

*Obscure theological joke here.

Damian Warner :CAN leads the decathlon after Day 1 of Hypomeeting Gotzis, with 4531 points. His compatriot Pierce Lepage :CAN sits in second place (4513), while Ashley Moloney :AUS (4497) sits in third place.

Simon Ehammer :SUI after three no marks (XXX) in long jump, has put himself out of contention for the title. He pushed Warner to the title last year, and also ending up setting a new Swiss record in the process.

Meanwhile, in the heptathlon Anna Hall :USA (4172) is having a exceptional performance (Watch out for her come US Olympic Trials/Paris 2024, she seems to be setting new PB's every time she competes), way ahead of second place Adrianna Sulek :POL (3936) and Katarina Johnson-Thompson :GBR (3930) in third.

Reigning Olympic silver medalist Anouk Vetter :NED is currently in seventh (3810).

Greta Karinauskaitė just ran a 9:26.88 in 3000m steeplechase at the NCAA qualifiers.

This is now the new national record, the old one belonged to Rasa Troup in 2008.

With this result she qualified to the World Championships and is probably one of the major contenders for the gold at the European u23 championships later this year.

She is also now less than four seconds off from the Olympic Qualifying time, so perhaps she'll even reach that this summer?

Ryan Crouser :USA 23.56m men's shot put WR at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix :hyper::bounce:

Funny thing was that there was a backboard where the shot landed & he was almost hitting it! He could have set a massive WR that couldn’t be measured.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
