All Russian final in Den Bosch -> defending champion Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Veronika Kudermetova.

All British final in Nottingham -> Katie Boulter vs Jodie Burrage (both in their first WTA final ever). Also the first all-British WTA final since... 1975 :coffee:

:GBR Katie Boulter wins Nottingham 250 over Jodie Burrage 6-3 6-3. This is only the second time in the last 20 years a player has won WTA title without having to face an opponent ranked inside Top 130 in the world :p

That's a major shock as I didn't expect her back problems to be as serious. She will always have that insane 2021 season (mostly the second half of it) culminated by the YEC final.

Well, the Den Bosch final will be repeated in Berlin QF. Alexandrova blasted Cori Gauff 6-4 6-0 winning 11 of the last 12 games while Kudermetova beat #2 Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets.

This week's finals:

Berlin 500

:CZE Petra Kvitova def. :CRO Donna Vekic 6-2 7-6(6)

Birmingham 250

:LAT Jelena Ostapenko def. :CZE Barbora Krejcikova 7-6(8) 6-4

Fun fact: Kvitova and Ostapenko will meet in R1 in Eastbourne most likely on Tuesday. They actually played the 2022 final there.

I really think the ATP and WTA need to work together to plan out finals scheduling. It is ridiculous that every week we have multiple finals from different tournaments going on at the same time. It would be better for all if they were somewhat spaced out...

:KAZ Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from Eastbourne and apparently she is still feeling the effects of virus that forced her to withdraw mid-event from Roland Garros :mumble:

    • Yes, but Geiger and Wellinger have both achieved some success in major events, while Paschke hasn't. Geiger certainly has a better chance in Cortina than Paschke at now, but it has to be the his decision to withdraw and give a chance to his team- mate. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair to him. I don't think Horngacher will force him to withdraw.
