Do you think they will meet the minimum requirements to compete at the Olympics?

They might, but the main problem is the Certificate of Capability for the team event (meaning 3 riders with MER by December 31, otherwise team quota is gone).

China will probably find the away. Alex Hua Tian is already established at the highest level, while Sun successfully stepped up to 4* last month... Hong Kong has some experience (Heffernan Ho competes at 4*, Lam is already show jumping Olympian). Thailand is just hopeless though, at least for now...

That's what I meant, this could affect nations trying to qualify an individual should Hong Kong/Thailand fail to meet the minimum requirements.

Indeed, and since we are talking eventing here, period for Certificate of Capability effectivelly ends in mid November. Add to that the required rest period of 4 weeks in between the attempts at long format 4* events, and there you have it, arguably the hardest minimum eligibility standards of all Olympic sports.

Didn't know that. I think the other groups are fine, unless a major upset happens (Group C?)

Maybe with Czech Republic it could be a problem, but even then it might not. Unlike Groups F/G event which is held at 3* level, Group C qualifier will also serve as 4* MER opportunity.

Start list is out for tomorrow.

Team members are marked with an asterix (*). For whatever reason, Japan will also take part in the team event.

    • the quata for europe or australia is from the primer 12, where the top 20 teams will participate, sadly  is the 21th team so the only slight chance for us in my opinion is if: we get top 2 at the european championship (not including  hopefully if they get the quata), then somehow win the final qualification tournament against i assume  and one of    the chances for us are slim, i think about 4 other team sports  have a better chance in in my opinion(and the most team sports we ever had was one, and it was the last two time after a long time )

    • well, Cuba and Venezuela for sure...   Iran is a different question, but I hope in 2 years all this war shit is done and dusted and at least in the sports world everything is gonna be OK
    • In my opinion the Italian team has been playing above expectations since last year after several years of decline. Last year, we advanced to the first division at the European Championships and now they're playing very close matches against the strong India and Scotland. We a little miss a potential to do more – we are only 18th in the world rankings. Our men's team's performance in this sport is much weaker.
    • I wonder if all Cuba, Iran and Venezuela will be able to travel and compete in LA at all... Hopefully that yes.
    • There was some initial disappointment at first, but got over it quite quickly.    Happy for  and I hope they can win a medal in LA with their MLB players there!
