Thanks! Post the selection procedures as well for all the sports, so we would like to know. I assure that Canadian athletes will be selected in the track and field and swimming through the Olympic trials. I do not know for the rest.

Here is my simulated team size.

Archery: 3 (all men. The men finished with silver at the test event, and looks like they have improved quite a bit, atp its a toss up if they all qualify).

Athletics: 61 (more can qualify).

Badminton: 4 (men's and women's singles + one doubles event, from a continental reallocation).

Basketball: 24 (men's and women's teams. Hopefully the men can qualify).

Beach volleyball: 8 (2 men's and women's pairs)

Boxing: 3 (don't think any will qualify in the world tournaments).

Canoeing: 8; 2 in slalom and 6 in flatwater (4 in men's kayak, 1 in canoeing and 1 in women's kayak; Oldershaw or the C2 cannot qualify do to quota rules).

Cycling: 18; 6 in road cycling, 1 in bmx, 4 in mountain biking and 7 or 8 in track (depends on if Beveridge competes in the team pursuit)

Diving: 8 (4 men and 4 women)

Equestrian: 10 (qualification is complete).

Fencing: 6 (one in each individual event)

Field hockey: 16 (men's team)

Football: 18 (women's team)

Golf: 4 (2 in each gender currently in qualification position, this is the maximum team size)

Gymnastics: 8; 6 in artistic (women's team and one man), 2 in trampoline (one in each event)

Judo: 7 (currently 7 in qualification position; unlikely any other athletes move up into a qualification spot)/

Modern pentathlon: 2 (both women, one is qualified already, the other will qualify through the rankings as she is 5th)

Rowing: 30 (currently 22 qualified in 6 events. The men's and women's quad sculls should qualify at the worlds, as only one both per gender can qualify at that event).

Rugby sevens: 24 (men's and women's tournament, hopefully the men qualify)

Sailing: 13 (13 qualified in 9 events)

Shooting: 2 (both women)

Swimming: 24 (same as the worlds)

Synchro: 2 (duet)

Table tennis: 2 (one man and one woman, the men's team is unlikely to qualify)

Taekwondo: 1 (qualification is over)

Tennis: 5 (Raonic, Nestor, Pospisil, Shamsadin and Bouchard)

Triathlon: 5 (5 currently in qualification position; 2 men and 3 women)

Volleyball: 12 (men's team)

Water polo: 12 (men's team, this might be a stretch but the draw is favourable for Canada at the final tournament).

Weightlifting: 2 (one man and one woman)

Wrestling: 9 (7 are already qualified, I expect Garcia and Gill to qualify at the worlds, though it will be tough)

Total: 351

Not great results so far at the Swimming Olympics trials. Nobody qualified in the men's 400m IM or the men's 100m breaststroke (winner was 0.02s off). Brittany MacLean did win the 400m with a new Canadian standard and, three races is, in the only Canadian to qualify. Taylor Ruck, 15, was less than a second off the qualification time.

Edit 1: In an upset Penelope Oleksiak wins the women's 100m butterfly with a new Canadian record. Noemie Thomas beats out Katerine Savard, beating the old Canadian record, to also qualify for the Olympics.

Oleksiak would have won silver and Thomas Bronze with those times at the worlds last year! And Oleksiak is only 15! unreal.

Ya, it's pretty impressive. They both have a very good shot at making the finals in Rio (and maybe contend for a medal) with that kind of time.

Edit: Nobody qualified in the men's 200m free. Bleh.

    • Here you have statesmen and old leaders that's why we were the leaders back then, and the USSR fell apart.   And who said I support Trump? I have never even been in USA in my life... Personally, I think he's a clown, but he unfortunately show the decline of our entire Western World- of which the USA was a leader for a long time.
    • Latvia seriously attacking the anti-record in WJCh history with the fewest shots on goal in a game    4 SOG after 48 minutes is really quite atrocious stat

    • Canada had a great home-boost in 2010. Unfortunately, that's not the case in us – look at 2006... We won fewer medals in Torino 2006 than in 2002 (11 vs. 13)
    • Short-track is unpredictable and ridden by bullshit refs who give out weird penalties and home-advantage calls to favour the home athletes. Women’s hockey, we aren’t beating the US this time around, the rivalry series went horribly and I’d be happy if we can hang on to silver. It was that bad.    Freestyle skiing team, a lot of them have been getting injured our ski cross contenders (Hoffos, who was in the best form of her career, Sherret), Kingsbury, Oldham... Then you have Blouin, and reigning World Champion Liam Brearley in snowboarding, 2024 world champion in skeleton Hallie Clarke, and 2023 world champion in ski jumping Alexandria Loutitt who are all out injured for the season.   I don’t think you have anything to worry about, Italy will have a nice home boost and win 5-6 golds, but yeah that would’ve been pretty bad for us even before our entire team getting injured. I still view it as a disappointment either way.
    • Do you have short track, freestyle, snowboardcross, hockey x2? You'll definitely win 5-6 gold medals. If you want, I'll gladly sign now for Italy to win 5-6 gold medals in February... Canada has at least 3 girls competing for medals in the long distances, and we only have 1 Lollobirigida- also quite old.
    • team is seriously in shambles and I wouldn’t be surprised if we only win a few bronzes or slightly better at Milano-Cortina…   Our men are nonexistent, Dubreuil still is awful coming back from injury and nowhere near his 2021-22 form, he’d be lucky to get a top 16 finish. Jan-Bloemen is old and his 5,000m WC podium was a fluke, at best it’ll be a top 8 finish in each event. For the women, Weidemann won’t beat Groenewoud/Wiklund in the 5km/10km and Blondin with Groenewoud (probably, she beats her all the time) or Mangianello in the mass start, and Maltais can only aim for a minor medal at best. We don’t even have our team pursuit anymore, used to be by far the best and now we’re getting beaten by Netherlands/Japan…
