Just curious. Any Male medal winners till now?

None. I think that is a sign Canada's success is mainly because many countries do not invest in women's sports like Men's. If Canada wants to be more competitive in men's it will need to spend more as there is more competition vs 20 years ago.

Another issue is that Canada still heavily relies on universities to give their athletes competitive practice. Men tend to peak later in life and unless they are trying to get a masters/PhD degree they are no longer part of that system.

I'm hopi

After a big day yesterday, Day 5 looks to be a lot quieter. Our best chance likely comes in rowing (women's double sculls). Additionally, swimming has two more medal chances (women's 200m freestyle & women's 200m individual medley).

I'm hoping the momentum from Day 4 will carry over to Day 5 as well. Agreed that the medal chances aren't particularly as strong but there are possibilities.

Curious how this mixed doubles tennis will go...is the Greece team good together or are they seeded because of their combine individual ranking?

They are seeded based on their combined ranking. Both play singles with Sakkari never playing doubles in one of the four majors.

Canada has more experience in doubles so the upset potential is there, but Greece could very well win based on their individual strength.

Individual rankings... plus both have matches right before the mixed doubles match so they will be tired.

Just realized men only won medals in one sport (trak and field) last time out, equestrian is mixed. Wow this is a huge problem in Canadian sport. I hope OTP has a plan to fix it.

Outside of throwing more money at the problem I don't think OTP has the capabilities of fixing the problem. The way the organization is ran is that they incentivize easier to win medals. At best, they can mandate that funding must be equally spent on both genders.

    • Please do not bring this idea to Sindo
    • Tahli/Dean    Probably just as disappointed as the Australians on here are
    • Gotta feel for  defending world bronze medalists, but couldn't make it to the Olympics
    • with a steal of 3 in the 8th end,  can't make the last shot to stay alive.
    • Oh yea.  Seemed like they were starting to get some less than elite pitchers, but the commits they've had in the last 12 hours have been stellar.  Now the staff feels like an embarrassment of riches.  They have 3 elite starters and a bunch of guys that can eat innings.  Thrilled what Mark DeRosa has been able to put together.
    • It looks like you guys will be juuuuust fine.   Tarik Skubal, Logan Webb, Joe Ryan and Nolan McLean all committed within the last couple of days.
    • Yay for no disqualifications! Thanks @OlympicIRL for all the work! Getting close.
    • I think 's athlete probably earned enough points today in the Quals of Halfpipe to get the nod.  Will need to wait for confirmation, but I think so.
