Mangkhut is going to be a monster. It has the potential to be one of the most intense cyclones in recorded history. Wind speeds, amount of rain, the sheer size of the thing, it's all unbelievable. Within around 36-40 hours, Guam will have less inhabitants than it does now.

Rota (Northern Marianas , 2500 inhabitants) has gone completely silent since a few hours, according to the weather people on Guam. The eye of Mangkhut passed directly over the tiny island and gave them a double passage of the very intense eyewall.

The coasts of South and North Carolina are going to be evacuated. At least people are starting to realize relatively early (2-3 days in advance) that Florence might be one of the very worst hurricanes to ever hit the US.. definitely as far as the east coast goes.

last year most of french citizen of st Martin left this island after the Hurricane , i guess the rest will too

Last year the result on Sint-Maarten (the Dutch part) was......people stealing everything they could find, even brand new TV's from hotels and everything (there was no TV service, so...). 

 

Hopefully Isaac will be less devastating.
