well, comparing SVK to QAT is a bit inappropriate :d  please take note, that we did not buy him and did not payed anyone, he himself asked us for our citizenship.

+ we rarely buy or naturalize athletes (EXCEPT WRESTLING federation ofc, but that´s unfortunately their own way...nowaday we have almost entire Russian born NT in this sport...even in the juniors categories lol... and two table tennis guys (one of them was even in Rio) )

the most known naturalized athlete is Kuzmina, but this is also another story, she was looking for a country where it would not be a problem to be with her child during the whole time even in training camps, because Russia refused to accept it, her husband Daniel Kuzmin was already living at that time here in Banská Bystrica (Russian born Israeli cross country skier :p) and he asked our federation if we don´t want to try one Russian young talent named Shipulina, so we tried, and two years later she already fluently speaking slovak won gold the first day of Vancouver 2010 games under her new name Kuzmina

so you see no Qatar except Wrestling and partially Table Tennis, but there everyone is doing that too I guess :p

I don't get why 43 year old golfer suddenly wants to play at the Olympics. It's not like they are very popular in the golf world. :p

Believe me. After the Rio Games, they are gonna go for it. ;)

    • Yep, if they can take advantage of those cracks maybe, but it's too big of a maybe in my opinion. Our pitching has relied on Caissie, Toro, and Lopez the entire tournament, and I don't see that being enough to match the US's firepower.   Canadians are used to disappointment, there's almost always things that go wrong, and there actually being a chance to qualify for the...
    • That was realistic though, this isn't.   The women were heavy favourites, we did better than expected. The men were favourites with their roster of course, but they dominated that final just unfortunate to be going up against prime Hellebuyck who was a brick wall and of course there were a few questionable calls that were crucial in the end.
    • It's unlikely, but possible. USA pitching is not that great imo. Canada will probably have to score 6+ runs to have a chance, but it's definitely possible.
