So wait...if in the pursuit for example you start 20 seconds behind the leader and finish 5 seconds behind the winner, you lose 5 seconds for the GC instead of win 15 seconds?

All in all, two very dull races. Doubt the next pursuit will be the same.

Also, the next pursuit will at least be clear: first across the finish wins the TdS, unlike this annoying stuff of having a pursuit in the middle of a stage race.

There should not be bonus seconds in pursuits. The leader gets too much advantage compared to the rest, which makes the overall competition less interesting.

Pursuits in stage races should only be as final stage anyway.

The Norwegian skiers continue to show how much of a fuck they care for the Tour De Ski. Number 4 in the overall standing, Sindre Bjoernestad Skar, has decided to quit, to instead focus on the WCH.

I'm surprised he got this far. Despite having quite a good number of good results already, he somehow always flies under my radar :p

Tour de Ski has lost it's mojo. It was a flashy new GF when it started but now the World Chams are like the exciting MILF you prefer while the teenage GF drives you nuts! First it was the thing about too many freestyle races and now the World Cup is skewed towards the sprint/short races while Tour de Ski remains an endurance thing. You can't try to send the endurance races into retirement 3/4 of the season and then promote TdS as the ultimate prize. It makes no sense. I've completely lost interest in this one.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
