Some updates from the World Archery congress:

  • Member associations in Syria, Jordan and Lesotho were affiliated, and Madagascar, Palau and the Central African Republic re-affiliated.
  • Liberia, Kiribati and Burkina Faso were expelled. Senegal was given an extension until the end of 2019 to resolve governance and activity issues – with a view to stabilising the federation ahead of the Youth Olympic Games in 2022.
  • The World Archery Indoor Championships will no longer be held so that the resources can be invested into the popular Indoor Archery World Series.

The executive board of World Archery appointed hosts for major events over the next four years at its meeting prior to World Archery Congress on 31 May 2019 in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

  • Berlin, Germany was awarded the 2023 World Archery Championships
  • Yankton previously hosted the World Archery Youth Championships in 2015, the World Archery Indoor Championships in 2018 – the last, following a resolution to remove the event from the calendar that was passed yesterday – and will also host the World Archery Field Championships in 2020.
  • Pilsen, Czech Republic was awarded the 2023 World Archery Para Championships.
  • Paris, France (2021-2023); Shanghai, China (2020-2024); and Guatemala City (2020) have been named as stages of the Hyundai Archery World Cup. Next year’s stage of the international circuit is now confirmed to consist of three legs in Shanghai, Guatemala City and Berlin – plus the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final in a city yet to be confirmed.
  • A tournament in Sydney, Australia at 250 level will be added to the Indoor Archery World Series calendar this winter.
  • The 2021 World Archery 3D Championships have been awarded to Terni, Italy.

Archery’s mass participation indoor circuit returns in November.

The six tournaments on the calendar of the Indoor Archery World Series in 2019-2020season have been announced with a competition in Sydney joining last year’s list of hosts in Luxembourg, Macau, Rome, Nimes and Las Vegas.

All of the events are open entry, meaning archers can register themselves and athletes do not have to be part of a national team.

For the second year, the Indoor Archery World Series will have both elite and open rankings. Athletes accrue elite ranking points with high placings at each stage. The 16 athletes in each competition category with the most elite ranking points after the last stage in Las Vegas are invited to compete in the Indoor Archery World Series Finals.

Brady Ellison has officially made history at The Vegas Shoot 2020 with a perfect 900 points!!!

The world record for men's Olympic archery i is "only" 599 out of 600 points:p.
Last weekend there was a huge competition in Vegas,  but because of its different format, it was not considered a world record:(.

still amazing score and still Brady can go and get 600/600 in this year's Olympics...

Olympic is still around a year but the conflict is on... Two Indonesian archers Riau Ega and Diananda Choirunisa who won Olympic quotas are now kicked out from the national training center because they refuse to join with the new coach; while during the pandemic they had been training with the old coach who provided the facilities by his own funds (and ofc the federation is not doing anything to keep the athletes fit).
