a bit summary of today morning session

61kg: no big upset so far. I was expecting Bonne, Rashidov and Lomtadze in semifinal. for the last one I was thinking about Dubov but he is not young anymore. didn't see his match vs Colon but still 10-0 is surprising.  Colon was last minute replacement for team USA . ti will be surprising if he medals here . Rashidov was lucky against Mongolia and the last call was a bit controversial . our young/inexperienced Yakhkeshi almost Bonne. he was better than my expectations but made a dumb mistake at the end. I think we can count on him for the future. this is only his second (or maybe third) time for him leaving Iran to wrestle abroad ! he let Bonne score exactly the same way he always does.

:USA vs :CUB

:GEO vs :RUS

74kg: Burroughs losing to Sidaov was a bit upset . not a big upset though. Chamizo won 3 easy matches and his first real test will be in SF. hard to predict between these 2. in bottom half that was a bit surprising to see Abdurakhmonov losing in first round .still not a huge upset. Georgia now has 3 wrestlers in semifinal. I think Demirtas will win the SF. about our wrestler. I absolutely had no hope on Hosseinkhani but he almost beat Burroughs. he was the better wrestler the whole match but as usual lost it in last seconds.

:ITA vs :RUS

:TUR vs :GEO

86kg: I talked enough about Yazdani's match. that was probably the only big surpirse of this weight. Taylor looks great and I think he will win the gold. on top half which was very easy Erdin beat Makoev and the rest will be easy for him. Friev also took advantage of his easy draw and now he is one match away from the world medal.

:ESP vs :TUR

:USA vs :RUS

125kg: Akgul losing to Hadi was a huge surprise. we also had another big surprise Gwiazdowski losing to Deng. having India vs China in SF of heavyweight Wch is a big big surprise but they both got lucky with the draw. specially Sumit. but now he is there. there is a chance for medal. but I expect Deng to win and get a silver at the end. Hadi will face Petriashvili in semifinal. after beating Akgul he is probably full of confidence but Geno is a great wrestler and still I expect him to win this.

:CHN vs :IND

:IRI vs :GEO

These streams are no YouTube streams right? It'll be hard to watch the quarter/semi finals later today without knowing the results then I guess :p

I think they are "Livestream" platform files (like those of ISSF Shooting)...

I have the app on my Apple TV and for the Shooting Worlds it worked very well...there was the chance to view all sessions live and ondemand (without spoilers) immediately after the end of the live feed...

I hope it's the same (and it works also on PC and other platforms) for UWW (but I never checked it out, since the finals sessions normally are available on some of the tv networks I can watch with my satellite dish...mainly TRT3 Spor from Turkey or the international feed, when I can find the keys to steal the pictures from it )...

by the way, I did find another option, the Hungarian TV...

they're going to broadcast all the champs live on their channels, in particular the semifinals and finals session are on "Duna World"...

all of their programs can be watched ondemand on their website (Wrestling Worlds are available outside HUN, so no VPN needed)...

https://www.mediaklikk.hu/musorujsag/#

you just have to look for "Birkozo Vilagbajnoksag" (= Wrestling Worlds), click on the title of the program and choose "Elò" (=Live) if you're watching at the time of live broadcast or "Video Inditasa" (= Video Ondemand) if you're trying to recover the program later (hoping that they make it available...this morning session for instance it's not there yet :()...

Thanks, I mostly want to watch finals (and maybe semi finals if I have time) without knowing results yet so that's a good option :p

normally UWW uploads the videos of the single medal bouts on their UWW page, but it's full of spoilers...

maybe we could try to link them here without having to open the entire UWW YT page and search for them and getting into those spoilers...let's see if someone can do it (personally, I don't think I have time in short time after the matches have been completed, maybe the following day)...

I always appreciate stuff like "the final can be watched here" with a link to the final instead of a page where you have to search your way through spoiler-filled pages and thumbnails :p

let's see what we can do...if only our friend and "specialist" in video archives @Olympian1010 could help, it would be highly appreciated...;)

by the way, all semifinals (strating right now) will follow the logical order (first the -61kg rank, then the other weight classes up to the -125kg) and will be on 1 mat, so we have the chance to watch them one by one in total relaxation (well, maybe not so relaxed for some bouts...but still)...

    • It's true, but Colturi still only 1 person and for example in the men's slalom we have tragic results. In giant slalom again we last won many years ago. For example, Switzerland has a complete team, which has not only stars but also wide teams in every discipline + young successors.   Scattolo is an option after 2026. For now, all that remains is to count on Vittozzi's return - apart from her, no one is able to regularly stand on the podium.
    • That was the IBU Cup winner spot, guaranteed for the first two weeks (won by Michelon last year). Galmace Paulin will definitely not get a spot in January. If someone has to be demoted, it would be Chauveau, to make room for Botet. Galmace Paulin is like 5th or 6th in the pecking order at the moment.
    • Maybe Galmace Paulin can take The Spot of Richard, Michelon or Chauveau later this season. In Hochfilzen France Had 7 Spots, not sure What happened. If The french Team can get Back that Spot, then Galmace Paulin should be The First candidate.   Tannheimer, Michelon, Richard, Kirkeeide and Andersson are all more likely than Not To make The Podium this Season in my opinion. With a bit of luck, half The Top 10 in The Overall Ranking at The end of The Season could be athletes born in 2002 or later.
    • Biathlon: I think your Coaches should promote Scattolo.  Alpine skiing: Things Would Look very different if Colturi would Compete for You.
    • It also appears 1 noc has withdrawn   https://oca.asia/news/5781-harbin-2025-awg-organisers-confirm-record-number-of-entries.html
    • If my figures are correct, I confirm that this is the international debut in top-level competition for Turkmenistan, Kuwait and Thailand. i believe it is also the debut in a senior competition for Mongolia
    • The Youth Olympic Games have used the group format before due to a large number of entries. The 2023 Winter EYOF also used a two group format in the mixed team event.   Still, it's cool to see so many nations registered for the Asian Winter Games.
