Yes, I know about it but well, Cyprus can't be difficult opponent. This match was at Open Series tournament, it's somehow related with Olympic qualifications or not?

It is. Winners of Open Series go to Hockey Series Finals. 6 teams (out of 24) teams from the Hockey Series Finals qualify for the Olympic playoffs.

If I were you, I would cheer for the best team. It would give France the best chance of qualifying for Tokyo. :p

Big upset, might be for the best in terms of maximizing Asian representation. India will likely be one of the top 3 seeds in the world qualifiers.

More than the result i'm surprised with the fact that it was a very even game in number of shots, penalty corners, etc. Normally these upsets in hockey happen when one team misses a ton of opportunities and also the straight-to-penalties format has favored upsets last few years, but it wasn't the case today.

Malaysia is usually very bad against teams ranked above them except with India, for some reason.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.

    • I don't think he'll mind too much
    • But his time isn`t valid at track record.
    • Vladimir Semirunniy dropped a 12:28 in the 10000m B division, which qualifies him for the Olympics as the fastest time this season (with the big asterisk that it was done in a quad start). Must be a real relief for the Polish team given he isn't looking likely to qualify for the 10000m (or the 5000m) by ranking.   Really problematic that they rank pair start and quad start times together, but whatever.   Also, the Wikipedia page for qualification is updated through the second day.
