Cross-Country Skiing 2018 - 2019 Discussion Thread

Quite interesting developments in the world of Brazilian cross-country skiing, mostly the women. The second stage of the Brazilian rollerski circuit is being held these days in São Carlos, results can be found here:

Mostly look at the women's results and specifically those of Taynara da Silva and Amanda Lima, both only 16 years of age and having maybe a little over a year of rollerski training. Last year in a 7.5km classic race they lost 17 and 25 minutes on Bruna, Friday in a 5km classic race they both lost less than 4 minutes (and I can guarantee Bruna was definitely not holding back). Also in the freestyle sprint they've gotten a lot closer and besides them, there are also some U19 races with several other girls from 2002-2004 (and even one from 2007!). A bit over a year ago Bruna and Gabi were the only Brazilian female athletes born after 1990, now suddenly there's a whole new generation of teenage girls getting started in the sport and that is just really, really good to see

In case anyone is interested, the Brazilian federation probably will have a live stream of today's competition again (like yesterday)

Terribly sad photo from Norway. Skofterud was buried yesterday and her coffin was carried by her father, brother, Marit Bjoergen, Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg, Kristin Stoermer Steira and Therese Johaug.
