Anyone following the Thomas & Uber Cup that has just started today here in Aarhus?

Personally I'll be in the arena for the next 2 sessions today (couldn't get myself up for the 1st session) and friday's Thomas Cup quarter finals and Uber cup semis.

Must be an exciting experience! I haven't been following the tournament closely due to some job deadline, but I will try my best to watch all the knock out round matches

Very impressed by the next generation of young female shuttlers with s convincing win over Scotland yesterday. There was dearth of young female singles and doubles players for a long who could challenge and take the mantle from Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Ashwini Ponnappa. But the new crop of Malvika Bansod, Aditi Bhatt and Rutuparna-Tanisha look promising. Rutuparna-Tanisha even defeated the 49th rank Scottish pair. It was also a good debut for 16 year old Tasnim Mir.

Now they shall play the fancied Thailand team, lets see how it goes.

Today’s decisive match between :TPE and :INA is definitely gonna be very tense. The level is should be like OG semi final.

That group has really been the highlight of the group stages! Two brilliant matches so far and this last one could end up as another thriller!

Such a tough fought MS between Anthony and Chou Tien Chen. What happened at the point of 20-19 during the first set? Chou could have won it 21-19. Then all of a sudden if became 20 all. Umpire said Chou racket hit the net or what? What an unfortunate turn of event and Anthony went on to win the first set. Chou lose focus a bit and subsequently won the first MS match. Anyway it is a very tough fought match.

Now the MD 1 match will start.

The winner of this match is very tense. Taipei or Indonesia must win the matches for today if they want to progress to play in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile I think Thailand is already safely through to the quarterfinals because they won over Taipei 3-2 already/ Thailand I think can also win over Algeria 5-0.

It is so tough for Chou Tien Chen. He is no longer a young MS player. He is getting old. On top of that Chou Tien Chen does not have a coach with him when he goes out for any tournaments. All he had with him is just a physio. Tough when there is no one there to guide you and give you tips on how to win matches at the side of the court. I just wonder why Chou Tien Chen wants to choose such a difficult path.

But Thailand lost 3-2 against Indonesia. Meaning that if Taiwan wins by 3-2 they'll be all tied in matches won making it all about the number of games (I believe).

And Thailand should certainly win 5-0 (10-0 in games) against Algeria.

Yes that is why this group match is getting so tense up as well. Difficult to determine the winner.

    • Has everyone seen the leaked report on the Algerian boxer?
    • Is the Grand Final officially this Saturday?
    • Huh, there's still countries buying F-16's?     Coincidentally we said goodbye to our last ones a little over a month ago (Belgian ones are still sometimes flying here though).
    • Yeah, Harris might not be great, it is still definitely better than having an outright psychopath as president, again. At the very least it should be someone who is at least capable and willing to, you know, communicate like an adult. Trump very clearly can not do that, although one would assume his childish yelling and overall immensely bizarre way of speaking (from his intonation to his 'we did great, everyone thought it was great, they couldnt believe how great I was!') must appeal to a certain kind of person, I suppose.
    • Alix Klineman has also announced her retirement following the conclusion of the AVP League    https://www.instagram.com/reel/DB9CZwrPfqj/?igsh=MTZiaDk0NndmaTAzcQ==   What a sad year for beach volleyball, with Brouwer, Meeuwsen, Ludwig, Bobner, Pavan, and now these two retiring.
    • It's good that Argentina is starting to get back on track economically. Every year, all of our alpine skiing teams train in August in Argentina in Ushuaia: "Fine del Mundo", as it advertises itself.
    • The relation of Trump with Russia and, more specific, with Putin is probably the most controversial (being generous) thing of the presidence of Trump, i dont believe the same but is clearly that China help democrats in that election, both are playing their games.   In Argentina the society is clearly divided, the people who are in the left side of the politics, peronist and kirchnerism are very against the goverment, propably the only genuine "rigth-wing" goverment since the recovery of the democracy in 1983. For me and the most part who are in the rigth wing: libertarians, nacionalist and conservatives, is probably the best goverment we see to this days, he made in his first year with a very few legislators in the congress some big and good changes:   1) In the economical: the inflation is only 3% per month since a more of 15% in the last months of the last year, Argentina has now fiscal, financial and comercial surplus-   2) Our country didnt have fighter planes and the goverment buy 24  American F16  -   3) He changes the electoral sistem for a "single ballot" sistem, we have an obsolete electoral sistem that doesnt change from the 19 century and specially, the peronist use for make fraud.   4) In my personal case, he really update the tax sistem for small/medium profesionals and traders.......and that save us to pay the 50% of our earnings to the state.   With a big expectations in the goverment, its better than i thinked before.
    • It could be better, or it could be much worse, for example, if the accusations that he has been accepting large amounts of money from Russia since 2017 are confirmed. Now let Harris win, which will end Trump's political career and I hope that in 4 years the Republicans will put up someone more predictable.     btw, how is this controversial president of Argentina doing?
    • More predictable is not always better, for me the goverment of Biden was one of the worst of the History of USA and i cant imagine what can happen with even a worse version like Harris is.   I hope, for the contrary, Trump be elected and "may be" the things changes for the better in the world.
    • I once read that Harris had never been to Europe before 2020, when she became vice president. On the other hand, her foreign policy will be more predictable, because it will be a continuation of Biden's policies. That is why I hope Harris wins, although the bookmakers are betting on Trump.
