Well this was fun! It was possible to really follow the race for around 0:02 of the 3:40 minutes, I spent the other 3:38 minutes trying to figure out when a man or woman would start for which nation and what the relative strength of said man or woman is compared with men or women of other nations while also looking at the gaps between the nations and considering whether or not said man or woman would be able to either close or consolidate that gap in the next 100 meters, but apart from that it was really easy to follow.

Still not a word about what's going on with Kromowidjojo, although the federation has said they'll give an explanation 'later this morning'. That all sounds rather worrying....I mean, if she got sick overnight, wouldn't one simply expect them to say "She got sick, so she won't start today"?

So, hours of speculation - about anything from doping to pregnancy - and in the end the coach simply says Kromowidjojo withdrew from the 100 free to increase her medal chance in the mixed 4x100 free and the 50 fly, also saying the competition in the 100 free is too strong anyway.
