I wonder why, if they increased quotas in other sports, couldn't they add a couple more individual spots, given that fencing has seen some growing in the continent during the last 5 years.

Especially modern pentathlon... increased in 2015 then 2019... Literally every country competing in qualifiers will compete in Lima. One of the most powerful sports admins used to be a modern penathlete (Ivar Sisniega) so no surprise there lol. Originally they had 5 individual fencers per event but CPE decided against it.

I know, it's excessive for modern pentathlon, just select best 20 athletes, max 2 per country... but as you said, Ivar Sisniega is one of the masterminds behind the program so no chance for a reduction there. I'm surprised about CPE decision tough

What can I say? USA still lightyears ahead of their competitors; however, Argentina did great preventing a complete swept of the podiums, and obtaining other significant results. Canadians maintained their level, but the biggest dissapointments are Venezuela and Mexico; in concrete our men's sabre team finishing 11th :wall:.  Hopes this increases the backlash against our federation president and force him to resign.

In difficult times, professional politicians should rule, not celebrities like Trump or Zelensky. Macron is probably the one I like the most out of this group in Europe/Atlantic World right now, while Obama and even Bush Jr. were statesmen compared to Trump.

    • few observations on the first major tournament:   live score board (on screen) needs some improvements such as: the fencing piste colours are consistently wrong between the scoreboard and real game (the red and green colours) shooting screen in combined phase is very bad, time is stuck or continue even when the player finished, also the green (good shot dots) are not always working at the beginning I didn't like the score board on the left hand side but later I got used to it which is not bad in my opinion now. showing the the round in fencing will be beneficial to understand is it QF, R 16 ..etc and expect the score accordingly the fencing screen in the left hand side is confusing  (location of the score compared to name is not very clear) and it's more confusing when you notice that the colour is wrongly switched (see first point) Obstacles is fun to watch (I wasn't expecting that) and young athletes are taking it to very high leve,. also surprised with some good actions from experienced athletes such as Belaud, Shabaan & Gulyas.   Equestrian was not fair but more thrilling, here Obstacles is more fair and not boring. Personally, I liked Equestrian more but I can understand why obstacles is more favourable for some others.   new scoring of fencing is better, even difference in points was adjusted to become more close to swimming weight (main deciders now are obstacles and combined).   waiting Fencing World Ranking list to know how does it work and how they calculate this new ranking.
