Dearly praying for :PRK to participate in weightlifting in 2024 in some way, especially because it may be the final time they contest weightlifting at the Olympics and for me are a key nation in the sport.

they're just another big bunch of cheaters, let's be honest.

and they play the most unfair of them all.

weightlifting doesn't deserve Nations like that.

:DOM Beatriz Piron breaks into qualifying position in the OQR in the women's -49kg class after the :CUB Havana Grand Prix.

she lifted (in group B) 191kg (snatch: 86kg; C&J: 105kg), putting her in 8th place in the OQR.

p.s. all the events of the :CUB Havana Grand Prix are available live and on-demand through the Olympic Channel (with local language commentary, at least the day #2 video).

after a few days of DNSs and not so exciting scores, finally Yesterday there was some movement in the women's -71kg class at the :CUB Havana Grand Prix.

:ECU Angie Paola Palacios Dajomes dominated the competition and lifted also a new Snatch World Record, 121 kg.

she also recorded 261kg in the Total (huge PB), climbing from 3rd to 2nd in the OQR.

moreover, :WHT (:BLR) Siuzanna Valodzka was the runner up in the same event, lifting 242 kg in Total, which puts her straight in qualifying position (6th place) in the OQR.

:USA Olivia Lynn Reese also lifted a Total weight that would put her in qualifying position (241 kg), but she's still the 2nd women of her Country behind Katherine Elizabeth Nye (who has 248 kg as her best score) and therefore she won't get any ticket for France unless she can overtake her teammate.

meanwhile, in the men's -89kg class, veteran :WHT (:BLR) Petr Asayonak won the competition and lifted a Total of 368 kg, which puts him straight in qualifying position in the OQR (9th place).

:ITA star Antonino Pizzolato once again was registered as a DNS because of his back injury that already made him miss all the events held after last year's European Champs (when he won with at that time WR in both C&J and Total).

because of this period without competing, he doesn't have any valid score yet in the OQR...and he only has a couple of events left in the calendar.

one more good result in last night's women's -76kg class (which is part of the Olympic -81kg class OQR).

:USA Katherine Elizabeth Vibert won the competition lifting a Total of 247 kg, which puts her in 9th place of said OQR, tied in weight lifted with her compatriot Martha Ann Rogers.

:ECU Bella Nancy Paredes Arreaga finished second in the same event, lifting a Total of 245 kg, which puts her in 11th place in the OQR, but she's anyway the 2nd woman of her Country, good 17 kg behind Tamara Yajaira Salazar Arce, therefore her hopes to make the Olympic team are still very, very low.

some good results and moves on the OQR for both men and women last night in :CUB Havana.

the women's -81kg class was won by :NOR Solfrid Eila Amena Koanda with a rock solid 266kg Total.

she was already in qualifying position in the +87kg class after her gold medal at the world championships in Bogotà last Autumn, but now she breaks in straight into 2nd place of the -81kg class OQR.

:ECU Tamara Yajaira Salazar Arce ended up in 2nd place, improving her score up to 265kg, but still she loses 1 place in the OQR: she's now 3rd behind :CHN Liang and :NOR Koanda.

last night, :ECU Neisi Patricia Dajomes Barrera ended up in 3rd place with a good Total of 260kg, which would be a comfortable qualifying score, if only she wasn't the 2nd woman from her Country in the qualification ranking.

finally, also the 4th ranked from last night, :DOM Yudelina Mejia Peguero, breaks into a qualifying position in the OQR with a good 252kg Total.

:USA Martha Ann Rogers was 5th and improved her Total by 1kg, going up to 248, but in the end she loses 2 places in the OQR.

however, she's still in the top 10 (meanwhile :KOR and :VEN now are out of the top 10 after last night's event).

in the men's -102kg class, we have 2 new entries in the top 10 of the OQR.

:WHT (:BLR) Yauheni Tsikhantsou won the competition with a Total of 390kg and now he's in the 7th spot of the OQR.

:USA Wesley Brian Kitts was 2nd with a Total of 388kg and now he's the 9th ranked in the OQR.

:TPE Chen Po-Jen (3rd last night with a Total of 381kg, 5kg less than his best score) and :CHN Liu Huanhua are now out of the top 10 of the OQR after last night's event.

    • 2 things...   first, for what concerns the cooperation between inline skating and speedskating federations...sorry to disppoint some of you, but there's a great cooperation between them   the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that   you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities   as I already posted more than once, the idea of covering one of those tracks in the mountains was something idiotic, a political concession impossible to be sustained   the one and only chance to build a true legacy and an efficient, attractive national training center was to build a permanent indoor oval in Milan, beside the Forum   that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career   any other place wouldn't stand a chance   second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track    it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway
